Unactivated Macy's Gift Cards. This SUCKS!!!

I was reading an article by Kirk (http://allsoulsnight70.gather.com/) and he was explaining that he received an unactivated Macy's Gift Card.  I decided to check the balance on all three of mine and to my surprise, my two $25 gift cards are unactivated!  I am disappointed to say the least.  I am saving for something special, but it really sucks to have this happen.

Did anyone have this happen and if so, have you heard of Gather? I e-mailed them and I am curious to know what will happen.

I haven't cashed out yet for any cards but there are several articles here on Gather that talk about this issue.

That's why I take cash over gift cards. You never had to activate a twenty dollar bill...and they're accepted everywhere!

It happened to me too Jaye. I emailed Gather two days ago and haven't heard anything yet.

I have never claimed a Macy's card, but I claimed several Home Depot cards and never had any issues with any of them. I'm sure that Gather will make it right.

Remember not everyone has the option to go to cash.

I have only used Home Depot cards with no proplems. Here's hoping the ones which have a problem get straightened out soon.

THere are lots of articles this week about this problem. ONe of the guides said to email support@gather.com and if you don't hear back in a few days post to one of the daily guide help articles and let them know.

I checked my Macy's this morning and it was fine.

There are a couple of other articles about this. On one of them, some people from Gather have started commenting. One of them said, " I am currently working to resolve this situation in the next 2 hours. I just have to work with Macy's to activate the cards. I will keep everyone posted as soon as the situation is resolved. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Hopefully it will all work out.

luckily hasn't happened to me as of yet.but gather i hope will activate those cards since you did earn them-hope you get it fixed today.if you write them.do not expect an email soon,id call them if i were you

I'm so sorry that happened to you and Kirk, I've never redeemed Macy's myself, only the Borders and Home Depot cards.

I just got back home and had an e-mail from gather. I am pleased that they responded so quickly.

Robyn, you can check the balance online. I went to macys.com and search for gift card balance. A page came up and I clicked on "check your gift card balance".

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand what is happening here. Two people payed Macy's $25 apiece for gift cards given to/gifted you and now Macy's won't honor them?

Oh my gosh, I gave three gift cards I received from gather over the year as Christmas presents. I guess I will need to follow up. I do believe gather will work to make this right very quickly. Sorry you're having all the frustration. You're too nice to deserve any of this!

All of the home depot gift cards I have recieved have worked fine. Sorry this happened to you.

I just checked the cards and one is now activated, but the other is not. This is dissapointing.

I cashed in some Gather points for a gift certificate to Omaha Steaks, because I love beef. I should have looked at their prices before choosing my gift certificate though. Their prices are extremely high. Well.. For me anyways. I mean, that is no fault of Gather or Omaha Steaks, just mine. :)

I know that everyone I have heard from tells me that Omaha Steaks supply some of the best steak they have ever had, but.. I don't know. The size of the steaks are like little tiny things with big price tags. I'm a big eater so I never used my gift certificate. I am not going to waste any more of my points on things like gift certificates. I am going to save them up and wait until a donation option appears that I feel is worth my points.

Unless I get enough points to buy a new Dodge Challenger SRT-8, 6.1 liter Hemi

I didn't have any problems with my Border's card I got for inviting people. I almost have enough for a $50 Borders card, hope I don't have any problems there. Hope you hear from Gather soon and find out how to activate the cards. Good luck!

I hesitated and never got a Macy's gc. Maybe that was why I hesitated... who knows? I ended up getting a Border card instead.

That is funny. I got two $10.00 gift cards to Macy's and they both worked. Maybe you should just get a bunch of $10.00 gift cards next time.
