guilty pleasures...cinema style

i know everyone has a favorite movie that they like to watch over and over again.  i just found one of mine at the library and am about to go sit on the couch, work on a hat for a client, and watch/listen to it for the 100th time.

 what movie?  "Somewhere In Time".

I wouldn't call "Princess Bride" a guilty pleasure; that's a quality film. Mine is "Juwanna Man." It's so stupid, but it's so funny!

That's a good movie.

A few of mine are Sweet Home Alabama and Pretty Women. I can always sit down and watch either. There are others too, but these are probably the two I have watched most and still love.

um......i tend to go for the BBC movies or films with subtitles. but i will say that i watch troy just to see brad pitt in all his naked glory.

bird cage was a great movie. the building they filmed it in used to be a hotel. the edison hotel. i stayed there for a month one january. we used to call it the institution, cause you had to be crazy to stay there. we had a blast. the door to the kitchen in the movie was actually the elevator door, and the pool area is the same, just cleaned up.

dirty dancing. i wouldn't mind taking a twirl with swayze back in those days.
It's hard to pick. I like the Falcon series with Tom Conway a lot. George Sanders made some of those too. PRC westerns where Al St. John plays the sidekick are outstanding.

Hey, CC. Mine's The Three Musketeers. Lot's of great one liners, cracks me up every time. And Princess Bride, for much the same reason. Gladiator, just because.
I'm gonna take a LOT of flack for this, and that's fine: I love Chris Farley/David Spade movies. I watch 'em all the time. My most prized possession is my "Joe Dirt" DVD. (Go 'head, Kris -- bring it. Rick Springfield... somebody else ridiculous that I can't remember...)

OK, and where the F was I when this happened originally?!

I've seen several Nelson Eddy movies. That's all I'm willing to say at this time.
There's a series where Boris Karloff plays a Chinese detective.
The only thing that got me through Heathers without smashing the TV was finding out that the character Christian Slater played was a psychopath. That has to be the most annoying James Dean imitation ever.

I must be the only person of my generation who was totally underwhelmed by Heathers. My entire reaction, then and now, was Eh. Now, I AM one of those freaks who's powerless to turn away from The Breakfast Club every time it shows on cable -- John Hughes had me securely in his pocket until Pretty in Pink.

I love everything John Cusack starred in in the '80s. Everything. From The Sure Thing to One Crazy Summer to that ridiculous thing where he's at sea.
I don't know if it was an intentional James Dean imitation or not. It sounded enough like James Dean to put me off my feed.

Boris Karloff played Mr. Wong, a detective. He did a lot of B movies. I don't know if Netflix has any of those but you can buy them dirt cheap at oldies.com.

There's a documentary that just came out called "Hollywood Chinese." I want to see it. It starts with silents and devotes a fair amount of time to caucasians playing Chinese parts. They got an interview with Luise Rainer who played the lead in "The Good Earth." She's over 90 and completely coherent. They were going to use Anna May Wong.
