I am remodeling my son's bathroom, and I want to get a new toilet for it. There is nothing really wrong with the toilet that is in there, it works fine, it's just VERY old, and VERY ugly! It has stains on the inside, and it's an ugly peach color, with glue or something all over the lid. Now I know I could just go get another lid, but I can't find one that fits, or is the right color either. It is an elongated bowl, but it's really elongated! HA! Anyway, that is why I want a new toilet.
Here's where I am needing advice...do I have to buy a certain size toilet? I was looking for toilets at Home Depot, and noticed that they have all sorts of measurements on them. I knew about the standard size, versus the elongated size, but I didn't know there was that much of a difference otherwise. Does anyone know if the base of the toilet needs to be a certain size to cover the hole in the floor, or are they all pretty much the same size ? I can understand that you would need the measurements to see if it was small enough to fit in the space you are putting it in, but I wasn't sure if there was a huge difference or something. Can I just go and pick out any toilet that I like, and will it fit? (I guess that is the question!)
Then I wasn't aware that toilets come in pieces, the bowl, the tank, and the seat/lid! I found two that came as a whole set, the rest where sold in pieces. I want to get the cheap one I found, but it i not an elongated toilet, and that's why I was wondering if it would be alright till? I never imagined I would have so many silly questions about a toilet! HA! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
