last november/december, i came down with bronchitis (while pregnant) and they gave me some antibiotics and an inhaler. well, on dec 7th, i lost my voice and started coughing. i didn't have a fever or sore throat or anything, so i didn't think much of it. then, about the 1st of january, i had to start using my inhaler about once a day to breathe. it ran out Friday night!! so saturday and sunday i was miserable and i don't have insurance so i couldn't go to the ER or anything. Then, I made an appointment with my dr and she gave me a sample inhaler and sample antibiotics (which i didn't take because she said i had bronchitis, and bronchitis is viral).anyways, the inhaler she gave me did not work NEAR as well as my old one. my best friend has asthma and she had an inhaler that was partially used so she gave that to me and got a new one for herself through her insurance. what a relief! so my bronchitis was taken care of for a total of $68 which was for the office visit.
Then, on january 25th, my daughter got sick! she started coughing on the 26th and by the 28th it was a pretty bad cough. thinking she might have bronchitis, i took her in to her dr. well, it ended up being RSV (a viral respiratory infection that can land people in the hospital, more chance the younger you are). so the dr said to give her breathing treatments and we'd have to get a nebulizer. i asked if these were expensive and the nurse said "oh no, they're only about $100-150 usually" WHAT???? that's very expensive when we don't have any extra money!!!! fortunately, the nebulizer, dimetap, and medicine for the nebulizer were all covered by her medical card. *phew!* we took her to the dr again on monday and she hasn't needed a breathing treatment at all this week. Now, i'm sick again (probably my daughter's RSV since my co-worker is also sick with RSV) and its annoying! so here i am, i've been sick for about 2 months now, my ears are popping every time i swallow or blow my nose, i'm working 46 hrs a week (40hrs at one job, 6 at the other) which makes for 3 10 hr days, and i'm TIRED of being sick! i haven't worked full time here for a year, which means no insurance, no paid leave, nothing!!! i did take thursday and part of friday off, but since i had worked extra at my other job earlier that week, i could sort of afford it. i'm really hoping to get better WITHOUT having to make another un-insured trip to the dr.
*sigh*
how's everyone else doing??

I sure hope you get better soon as well!! No fun being sick!!
Just about everyone around here has it too. So - if misery loves company - I hope you feel better.
Even though I have great insurance, I still hated taking days off because I was sick when I worked. I always felt like we really needed the money for bills and things.
My husband and I were supposed to go to Chicago for Valentine's Day, but the kids were sick and we had to cancel our plans. Luckily, we were able to get a full refund on the hotel and train.
