San Diego's defense did a nice job containing Vince Young and the Titans over the weekend, but c'mon... it was the Titans. That was probably the weakest AFC playoff team since the Carson Palmer-less Bengals in '05. In any other division, they're watching the playoffs from home. I don't think Merriman's crew will be able to stifle the Colts offense the same way, and unless LT2 figures out how to get out of the backfield, the Bolts are in trouble. Rivers throws at least 2 picks, while Manning and crew shake off some early rust to pull away in the second half.
Colts 27, Chargers 17
Patriots (-13) vs. Jaguars
As a Pats fan, the Jags were the team that scared me going into theplayoffs. I know, I know... everyone's loving Jacksonville right now, with their two-headed running machine. But let's be serious here. Do you think Tom Brady & Co. are going to walk into this game unprepared? They may have a finesse-type passing game, but this is a very physical crew who is willing to grind it out with the Jags. Look for a big day out of Wes Welker.Patriots 28, Jaguars 7
Cowboys (-7.5) vs. Giants
I'll admit... Eli Manning put on quite a show in Week 17 and managed not to screw up against Tampa Bay last week. But I just don't see him putting another one together. I think the Cowboys get to him early and often, and by halftime he's regains that "deer-in-headlights" look he's had almost every week since he got in the league. As long as the real Tony Romo shows up, this should be a rout.
Cowboys 38, Giants 9
Packers (-8) vs. Seahawks
I'm tempted to pick Seattle here, if only to avoid picking the favorites in every game this weekend. But then, I'm picking every favorite to win and cover these ridiculous playoff spreads, so I guess that counts for something. Seattle has no running game and needed a furious 4th quarter rally to beat the Washington Todd Collinses. And that was in the cozy confines of QWest Field. I just can't see them marching into the House That Fav-ruh Built in January and pulling that crap. I'm giving it to the Packers, of course, to beat the spread.
Packers 21, Seahawks 10

That thought is really eating at me, Alan. I just can't figure for the life of me where it'll come from! Good thing I'm not going to Vegas this week...
The Sports Review
that and the other matchups don't really lend itself to an upset as much. dallas at home/eli on the road against a real team; tampa at 9-7 has to be one of the weakest conference champs in a long time. green bay at home/the hasselbeck "we'll take the ball and we're going to score" curse and no real running game.
and the pats against 2008's sexy playoff pick in foxboro. not to be a homer (ok, maybe a little) but aside from beating pitt at home in week 15 (last weekend doesn't count without willie parker and aaron smith) jax hasn't done much this year beyond beating the teams they should beat
If I were to pick an upset, that would probably be in as well, for two reasons: Harrison, and not having Dwight Freeney, who's season ended late in the last Colts/Bolts game.
Belichick & the Pats - 42; Jags 10. Belichick brings back memories of the SNL Mike Ditka skits...give him anyone and he will still beat half the teams in the NFL.
Belichick and the Patriot cheerleaders - 31; Jags 13.
belichick and da pats versus god and 11 snow plows armed with lasers...da pats
Giants
Colts
Pats (In a close one...I just love the Jags)
