After the walk on the beach photos

On the way home from my Walk on the Beach DH took a little back road to show me a little park with a nice pond.  What a nice surprise.  This is what we saw.

 

Honkers!  I just love geese and there were so many different kind.  DH decided to see if he could get close to them and scared them away, of course.  But here are a few photos I managed to get as they were walking toward the water.

 

This one looked a little different to me.  His bill seems so small.

 

 

I love it when they spread their wings like this.  I've never seen a black and white honker.

 

I was also excited to see a black one.  This is after my DH wanted to join them and they started heading for the water.  Sorry for the shots of their back.

Isn't this one pretty and unique?

This is where we were.  This is Surfside, near Myrtle Beach, SC.

So there you have it.  I decided to take the day off from commenting and get and enjoy nature since it was so beautiful out.  We walked on the beach, found some really neat shells and finished off with these geese.

I now have about 400 publications waiting for comments, but tomorrow is another day.  I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

fun photo essay, the black one did have very pretty wings, poor guy with the shorter beak, an expert could probably tell us why it's shorter. Thanks for sharing.

Great photo essay. My Mom has white Chinese Geese like those in your photo. We used to have 4 but all of them died execpt one, so we gave him to Mom so he wouldn't be lonely.

We had geese when I was a little girl. They chased me when I had to go throw out feed for them. To this day I give them wide berth :-)

I've never seen the b&W one either. My sister has a white one and I'm afraid of it because it chases you and acts like a guard dog. Nice pictures. I love the one with the wings spread.
