Call a family member or friend from time to time. Walk the halls if you can, as you need to keep up your strength to get better. Write some letters or perhaps a journal?

Creative crafts. Know that pink plastic tub that holds the pink plastic cup and the pink plastic pitcher that really serves no purpose? Use that as a bowl and make your own papier mache paste from water and milk or watery mashed potatoes. (Hey, this is about entertaining yourself.) Ask someone to hand you a rubber glove or two from that dispenser on the wall. Ask someone else to hand you a bunch of paper towels from THAT dispenser. Now you're all set. Blow up the glove and tie a knot in the wrist. Use the pitcher to set the glove on for sculpting. Make a rooster's head by soaking paper towels in the "paste" and molding them to the glove. When you're done, wipe your hands with one of those "moist towelettes".

Or...improve your aim. Have someone drop a shoe on the foot lever of the garbage can so it stays open; ask for a roll of toilet paper and start making spitballs. (Or just use peas, as suggested in a comment above).

Or...chart the "cloud shapes" or "constellations" you see in the ceiling tile pinhole patterns. (I used to do this in church during long drawn-out prayers when I was a child. I swear there's a couple of tiles with 'horsies' and 'hat's on them in that church.

Ask the staff if there are magazines or books you can read. Sometimes hospitals have a library with carts that volunteers take around. Is there a book you've been longing to read? Ask someone to bring it to you from the library. Or borrow one of their favorite books.
