What makes a sports fan?

My husband loves football. He is an Eagles fan.

I find it so interesting when someone is such a die hard fan of anything.... be it a football team, base ball team, hockey team, etc.

I occasionally will watch these things, but never so much so I would consider myself to be a big fan.

I dont find any of these things that important that I need to see every game or keep up on stats and scores.

Some people go nuts over these things!

There is nothing wrong with this at all! It is good to be passionate about things you enjoy! I guess I just havent ever found a sport that interests me enough to pick a favorite team and follow it! I guess I just was interested in knowing from those who have a favorite sport and team:

I am not that big of a sports fan so I do not have a favorite team. I think that it is a guy thing.

A guy thing? Some ladies are into to it, too! There are some die-hard women fans out there that love sports just as much as the guys do! When I go to Wrigley Field, I see males and females who root for the Cubs and I cheer along with them! Speaking of which, since you say it's a guy thing, have you, personally, ever went to a live sporting event?

I don't get the whole "fan" thing anyway. I'm not into sports, and I get bored pretty quickly after watching about five minutes of a game. That people can get violent over their sports teams is just something that I will never be able to understand.

I love football. I have been a Steelers fan since I was born, except for my rebelious teenage years when I was a Dolphins fan. :-)

I don't get to see many Steelers games living in New England but I have the games on every Sunday.

I hate sports, never like it growing up, never will. Step father watch every game that was on televison. Sleeping in drunk on his rear. I was never good at any of them. I could ran pretty fast though. I don't see what people see in sports.

I am not a sports fan at all. I can learn enough on the 6 o'clock news to have an intelligent discussion of sorts and that is all I need.

I am a huge college football fan! I am pretty sure it is a family tradition, it has been that way as long as I can remember!!! GO BUCKEYES!!!!!! LOL

I'm not a sports fan. My Paternal Grandfather (God bless his soul) used to listen to the Boston Red Sox on a transistor radio. He would sit in the back yard with a few brown bottles of Narraganset beer and listen to every play. I would sit with him on those lazy Summer days and it's such a wonderful memory that I never stopped loving the Boston Red Sox.

I think what makes a sports fan is dedication to that team. I became a Steelers fan years ago because of the great Franco Harris, Terry Brashaw, and the 80's Steelers team.

I agree with Don B.; although I don't live in Wisconsin, I've been a Greenbay fan since the beginning of me watching football, which was some age as a child. I try my best not to miss a football game on Sunday. I believe for some it is almost if not a religion.

My dad is a huge Atlanta Braves fan. So growing up, I watched a lot of baseball. Once I moved out, I stopped. Unless you count Nascar. My husband and I do watch every cup race, and about half of the Busch ones as well. :) Luckily, my husband isn't into any other sports.

Elliott is already becoming a little sports fanatic, though. He switches the TV to ESPN anytime he gets a chance. And when he's playing, and does something new, he jumps up and down with his arms in the air and yells "Tutdown!! Tutdown!!" It's so cute. But I think it's kind of weird since no one else in our family likes football.

I'm a huge football fan. Back when I was a tween, it was just college ball, but once I moved to Atlanta and began my former job bartending at the Georgia Dome, I developed quite a passion for NFL too.

My college team is and will always be Penn State. When my mother remarried in my teens, our family had season tickets. Plus, my step dad bleeds blue and white so it's extremly tough not to develop the same kind of energy when you live with someone like that. It's contagious!

I may not have religion, but I've got pigskin and the church of JoPa :)

I've never been able to figure out how someone can pick a team and root for them unless they have some affiliation with that team. I can see it in college sports if you've gone to the school, and I suppose if you know someone on a major league team it might make sense. Otherwise, it's one of the biggest enigmas to me ever.

I have 4 older brothers, therefore football was always on in my house. Some of my fondest memories of my childhood is my dad explaining the stupid rules of the game!! LOL. My hubby & 2 friends are huge Dolphins fans, so I try to go for the other team just to pi** them off. LOL!!! They scream & shout at the TV for the whole game. It's way too funny, like the players/coaches/refs can hear them!!! I, however am a Tampa Bay Bucs fan because I live here in central FL. But I am also a Cowboys fan from way back when Aikman was the QB. So there you have it, I guess I am a sports fan!!!

Being a sports fan is being dedicated to that particular team and sticking with them through thick and thin! Also, being at the game and watching them is fun, too! You get to be out and about with lots of people there at the game and cheer like crazy!
