Question about pregnancy!! Dont laugh! :)

Hello I have a question maybe someone can answer.. Its nothing I need to call my doctor for but its driving me crazy!

My last appointment I was 12 weeks pregnnat. My doctor felt my belly and all and said I am measuring 14 weeks. That means I am measuring 2 weeks ahead.. SOO question is

Since I am measuring 2 weeks big.. does that mean the baby is 2 weeks developed ahead as well. Or could I just be measuring 14 weeks but the baby is still same size as 12 weeks baby??

SO see I am now 13 1/2 weeks so 2 weeks ahead would put me at 15 1/2 weeks. So I COULD be feeling the baby move!

My hubby says its my imaginatation and the baby is not big enough but I think if I am 2 weeks ahead then It could be the baby. I do not feel it alot but I have a few times and IM pretty confident its the baby.

Just curious is you think the baby is 2 weeks ahead in develpment as well?? THANKS everyone!!

To tell the truth, I have no idea. But I would wait a couple of days to see if I felt the baby move. That way, you could have more facts to make an educated guess.

That's a good question, (I am no doctor, and if that was happening to me, I'd be asking the same question!) But I don't think the baby could develop 'faster'. The only thing would be if they got the dates a little off, then maybe...but I don't know, anythings possible!

I agree Holly but my last baby was the same way.. I was measuring 2 weeks big and whenI got way far along he said I had a big baby.. He was 2 weeks early at 8lb 8 oz.. and I am positive on the dates cause we were planning and all !

I think if im measuring 2 weeks ahead then the baby is growing very well! I have read that somewhere about the baby growing slow or fast.. I think mine just grow fast.. lol I dunno I have thought I have felt it move about 3 times now! So sure about last night it felt like my last son.. its a felling ya just really cant forget..

The way I understand it, they expect a certain amount of growth at certain points, so if your baby is two weeks ahead in growth, I would simply consider that a good thing - that the baby is developing at a healthy rate, and nothing more.

you're probably just a little bigger than you should be. But that doesn't mean that you can't feel the baby move. I've heard that your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, time around that you feel the baby move earlier because you know what to look for.

I always measured way ahead and we planned our pregnancy, so I KNOW the dates were right. My son was 8 days early and 9 pounds even. The doctors said that if he would have been born on his due date, he would have been over 10 pounds. You're probably just having a big baby....which is good, because they sleep a lot better!!

yep, probably just bigger....but not necessarily developing ahead as far as lungs and stuff.

My doc said I had a big baby too when I went in and thought I was further along then I was at first. Not sure what he thinks now but I KNOW when it happend so it could just be one of those things.

Tiffany, never having been pregnant (darn shame too because I would be pretty rich if I were;-) I can't speak as an expert on the field. but I do know from going through being there two times with my ex-wife and many other times with friends and family that the whole due date thing is not an exact science and also that all babies develop at their own pace. As long as the range in which they are developing is healthy (and yours is) there is nothing to worry about! I am putting the baby's arrival into the world at some time in July if I am figuring right, correct! That's cool because it happens before the hot hot hot days of summer. Just take care of you and yours and know that all is going well!
I felt like flutters around 3 months not really movement hard to explain. Also, with my son I measured bit but I was holding a lot of fluid because of Toxima. He was as well a big baby but they guessed when I had him I was over due because of some signs he was showing. So answer to your question who knows sorry I couldn't be more help.
Maybe it's twins? That's one cause for measuring big. ;)

Pregnancy is a lot like preparing for a marathon to be run at some unspecified date and time and you won 't be notified of when (or where) it starts until the starter's gun goes off. The baby is calling the shots...there is still a lot of mystery about the process of pregnancy and childbirth and while research has answered a lot of questions, doctors don't always like to say that they don't know the answer.

Just relax and enjoy your pregnancy....

We planned ours as well, and are CERTAIN on the date of conception (since my hubby was gone on business for nearly 3 weeks that month)! I measured 3 weeks ahead from about 12 weeks on and she was born 3 weeks early(almost to the day). I began feeling movement at about 13 weeks (according to the original measurements) and it felt like bubbles popping in my tummy! To answer your question...or not; I think these babies just come along when they're ready and the science just can't be exact, at least there's no way it was in my situation! You probably ARE feeling baby moving about now :)!

You probably are feeling the baby move! I always felt the movemnet earlier in my later pregnancies. Once you have had a baby, you know what it feels like. You may or may not deliver early - it depends on the doctor.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. But either way, you could still be feeling it move. AND it won't be long before you KNOW when you fell it move. So just enjoy every moment of pregnancy :)

You are probably feeling the baby move....but as far as what week you are at, it would depend on if they are talking about the measurement on your belly or from the sonagram. You said belly...that means either but if it was actual baby measurement then you are further along.

I think you are just measuring two week ahead because you have already had babies so your uterus is measuring bigger. I don't think it has anything to do with the length or development of the baby.

That is what the doctor is measuring anyway.

As far as feeling the baby move I think it's totally possible.

um... well, not funny at all, makes total sense to ask a question. Well, I'd go by all blood work and urine and ultrasounds for any week reading, though I'd say you're still the 12 weeks, but what he means by measuring 14 weeks is that you just measure a little bigger than most women at 12 weeks. Nothing against you, just that your baby may be a little bigger than most babies, such as you may have a bigger baby when coming to full-term. How big a baby not really has anything to do with development, if you're talking about lungs, heart or brain and so forth. I mean... I don't think because a baby measuring bigger and so forth makes the development any better. Your baby still will have the 12 week development for heart rate and all that. Hope that makes sense.

I have no idea. I am about 10 weeks along on my first child and am un-learned when it comes to that stuff :)

Tiffany, I just don't know. I didn't feel my baby until around the fourth month, and then it was only flutters. I do know exactly when conception occurred and the baby did too, but the doctor insisted the end of the month and scooted back a week, still the baby came when the baby knew it was time. And she was right. It was the beginning of the month, not 3 weeks later.
Good question---wish I had answer, sorry.
