I heard reports a couple of days ago that there was going to be a big rainstorm Friday night-Monday. My dog, Lucky, has a kennel outside. Normally when it rains, about half of his kennel will get muddy and wet and he really can't be out there for several days. My mom bought a tarp a couple of weeks ago, for something else at the moment, but also for Lucky's kennel. So I decided yesterday was the day I was going to put the tarp on. The tarp was big enough to go over the side as well, so I put it on over two of the sides. Not too long after that, the wind started blowing hard. I started to worry about the possibility of the wind picking up this 200 pound kennel. My dad thought, just to be careful, we should put some rebar in at the corners. So we found the rebar, and it seemed to help.
Well, a couple of hours later, the wind started getting really bad. I looked out the window, and all of a sudden, the kennel flies away! I ran outside to get Lucky and bring him in. And then I looked out and saw the kennel at the bottom of the hill. There was no way I could have done anything about it then, with the wind going crazy, and I was by myself. So I left it there until this morning.
My dad and a couple of my brothers helped me bring it back up. But it's pretty much totaled. It's bent into more of a diamond shape now. And not level anymore.
Guess it just goes to show, never put a tarp on a moveable object (no matter how heavy it is) in a location where there is some really strong wind.
Anyway, now I need a new one. Anyone have any idea where I could get a 6' by 8' or larger kennel for under $200?
