Huckabee was on Jay Leno the other night and he discussed his idea of taxes. He proclaimed that instead of an "income" tax there would be a fairly large, something like 23% or so, goods/sales type tax. The lower income people would be given the ability to not have to pay the tax, therefore making the tax more of a "rich people" tax. The more they spend and buy, the more they are taxed. Face it, you and I (the average people) will go out and buy a $20K car, while the rich folk will toss aside a good $65 and $75K on their luxury models. Their tax will be higher. A lot of what he said makes sense. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard his ideas on this and what you think. I'm not here to argue the good of it, just asking if others have heard him and what you think about the idea. He seemed to have the right answer for the idea that the poor and average people couldn't afford that tax. I don't want to quote him here and get it wrong so please check his website for full details, but I do think he has a good point.

This is not a "Vote for Huckabee" article and I honestly don't even know enough about any of the candidates to give my thoughts on who I want to win but I wanted to share this information and see what others thought if they saw the interview.

I think that once people found out they would not have to pay taxes if they earned a certain income, they would only earn that income.
I would be in favor of either a sales tax to replace the income tax, or a flat tax as Dan has mentioned. God knows we need some equity in this system!
