Hitting the nail on the head

OK So I'm sitting here in my friend's apartment and there aren't that many DVDs left that I can watch on the television (the rest of them I'd have to watch on the computer and I'm too busy doing other things) but he has Cher's Farewell Tour on DVD. And the second song into the video is her Song for the Lonely.

I've always loved this song, especially when it first came out (I actually hadn't known about it when it first came out until it started hitting the airwaves in NYC radio). And boy, let me tell you something, Cher hits the nail right smack dab in the middle on the head. Just take a look at the lyrics from the chorus of this song:

Every time I hear the song tears come to my eyes, because she expresses so well how I feel deep inside. And what's really great about this song is that it's speaking about something so sad and depressing yet the music itself is so uplifting that one finds hope in the song and the lyrics that came toward the end of the song.

 Another reason I love Cher so much is that she was one of the first artists who embraced having gay men as a fanbase. That, and she is, of course, a true diva who has endured the test of time.

I've never seen Cher in concert before and I was so sad when I missed the Farewell Tour but now I'm excited because she's back in the recording studio and she might just go on tour again. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
