I took some shots of icicles hanging from my house a couple of days ago. It was warm enough for them to be dripping. I snapped and snapped until I finally got a drop as it fell. But I wasn't satisfied with the shot. I didn't like the background.

So, I darkend it but not all the way or the icicles change too much.
However, when I did this the drop didn't stand out as much. Hmmmm...... what to do?

I tried several fliters in Photoshop. Finally, I went to Render : Lighting effects: Omni. I put the light directly on the drop. A tiny little light. I had to play around with the exposure and lightness of the overall photo until I got it right.
I like it. What do you think?

I know the drop does not stand out quite as much as the original but it is a slight inprovement over the middle photo and I'm satisfied - for the moment. I may go back to Photoshop and try some more.

I still think if it has to be this cold I want to see snow
Great job with a lot of patience.
Linda, I see your point and didn't notice it before. Very good observation! I can take it back to Photoshop and try and bring it out more.
