SHADES OF JFK and ROBERT KENNEDY
For those who have doubts about Senator Obama's capacity for leadership, capacity for learning, capacity for inspiring I urge you to listen carefully or read carefully his victory speech from Iowa.
Better you look for yourself rather than me try to summarize it. This man will be hard to beat particulalry if he captures New Hampshire in the next five days.
Watch carefully world there is a new, and better America dawning.

What made me an Obama supporter. At the caucus tonight a woman told me she had been a die hard Rep for 30 years and crossed party lines to vote for Obama.
Right wing Republicans have done a masterful job of turning it into a word of deprecation. I think the current mood in the country is changing somewhat, but the "tax and spend liberal" tag still influences many people. Ironic, isn't it, that the biggest deficits in the history of our nation were run up during the "Conservative" Republican administrations of Reagan and the two Bushes...the current one being by far the worst.
The difference, of course, is that the abovementioned trio just spent, they didn't tax!
Why is it that tax-and-spend is seen as less responsible that borrow-and spend?
I hope that voters are beginning to realize that we cannot continue to build this economic house of cards much longer.
Gibbs - I saw Obama make that speech and it was really inspiring. He is a good man.
I also liked Biden and Richardson and I hope the candidate chosen will find positions for them that will utilize their talents.
I'm one of those older women who the demographers say favor Hillary, but I don't. She doesn't come across to me as sincerely in it for the good of the country as much as for her own prestige. That is probably not true but she just does not sound to me as if she will go in and shake things up to make the changes needed.
Also a lot of people just don't like her and won't vote her. I think Obama has a better chance to win.
I don't think either one of them will play well on the coasts. But of the two, Obama will do better.
I like Hillery but she is really meeting her match.
Because he's an empty suit...seriously.....he get's up on stage and says the word change 500 times in twenty minutes and his supporters think that makes him qualified to be president?
Tell me what experience Obama has that indicates he'd be a good president. Tell me in specific detail the things he has accomplished that show he can get things done and bring about positive results. Where is Obama's leadershiip and management experience? Maybe you can fillme in because I don't see it. All I see is an empty suit and empty rhetoric. So if you could Spencer please answer those questions with specifics and don't give me any crap about what a good speaker he is or how he's for change because that is meaningless drivel but it seems that that is all the evidence for his candacy that his supporters can offer.
I on the other hand can point to specifics as to why Mitt Romney would make a great president.
Under his leadership Bain and Capital went from amillion dollar corporation to a multi billion dollar corporation.
He saved the olympics where were millions of dollars in debt.
He managed one of the most liberal states in the country with a far left legislature and left a large surplus when he left office.
Mitt Romney knows more about finance, leadership and management than any of the other caniddates running and has more demonstrated success in both the public and private sector. He has a tremendous ability to bring the right people together to solve problems and get real results. He's not a career politican like the everyone else running. He hasn't been hding out in Washington where incompetency and the status quo are the tolerated norm. For most of his professional life hee was in the private sector where you actually have to be competent and produce beneficial results or you're out of a job.
I have to laugh every time someone says Obama is more experienced and more qualified than Romney. It's a joke.
Bain Capital is a corporate raider...buys up companies sucks out the value and discards the shell...usually to the detriment of the employees. That is NOT the kind of expertise I want in a President.
"Under his leadership Bain and Capital went from amillion dollar corporation to a multi billion dollar corporation." But at what cost? Bain's also that company that will go through your trash for insider secrets. Definitely a positive. Oh, let's not forget his usage of off shore tax havens.
"He saved the olympics where were millions of dollars in debt." And lied lied lied while he was doing it. I mean, yes, he saved the Olympics and pledged not to use it for personal or financial gain - but that's exactly what he did.
"He managed one of the most liberal states in the country with a far left legislature and left a large surplus when he left office." Sure, there was a huge surplus, but it's a much harder to actually LIVE here now. God forbid you're not wealthy.
"ME ME ME Mitt"'s a great business man if you're okay with the whole "make me richer at any cost" way of doing things. Everything he's ever done is for his own personal gain - including Bain, the Olympics and his ridiculous run as the part time governor of Massachusetts. The country is NOT a business. People actually have to live, and raise children and hopefully prosper here.
Obama on the other hand, has spent his life committed to the service of his country and fellow Americans. He's put people before $$ every time. I think that alone makes him a better candidate.
You guys are right ...I should just throw in with you and wait for my government handout from president obama.........
Aint gonna happen..........Hillary is still going to be the nominee and Obama will be an also ran.
Two major things changed yesterday. First the trun out, broke all records and expectations. In spite of the weather, more people showed up and got involved on both side. All the candidates can take credit for it.
Secondly, two old bigotries bite the dust. Ethnic and gender glass ceilings have been shattered. No longer are the dried up old white men of this country have the lock on power. No matter which of the top three dems are nominated, the country will be better for their service.
As for the repubs--it's time to get back to the separation of church and state! Romney and Huck the Hick need to go back to their churches and preach to the choir. The rest of us have had enough of their narrow vision of the world. We are a diverse culture that is stronger for it....someone needs to tell them that the dinasaurs were real, the world isn't flat and the planet isn't the center of the universe.
And Dana - one last thing. Everyone should do for themselves. That's the American way isn't it? The opportunity to build something that's yours to pass on to your kids so they can build something even better for themselves and so on? But doing for yourself at the expense of anyone who gets in your way? I just think that's destructive and not right. Obama and other Democrats (and even lots of Republicans I'd imagine) think that the whole is more important - a rising tide lifts all boats. If I'm successful and you're successful, that's a win-win. We're all better off.
The people of this country are tired of being lied to and manipulated by the neocon bunch that Bush brought in. They have squandered the blood, treasure and good will that his country used to have. They have probably doomed us to second-rate status in the nations of this earth. Unless, somehow, the newly elected president can miraculously save us from our self-inflicted implosion.
I am not optimistic, but I am hopeful that the damage can be undone. But I am absolutely convinced that if any of the Republicans currently running for president are elected...we will continue to go down the drain. Not a single one of them has a clue how to stop our decline.
After all that has happened how can you even begin to defend Republicans. Name one, just one productive thing that Bush did in 8 years....
I'm waiting..... oh yea... that is right, nothing absolutely nothing positive took place in the past 8 years.
Liberal does not mean we want handouts, and your ignorance amplifies how stupid you must be. Obviously, your level of education is that if a 5th grader, so I'll try to put it simple....
Liberal means free ... as in freedom of speech and all that jargon. It does not mean we want "free" money. Of course, since you mention it, all the money that has been wasted in the past few years should be handed out since at least then it would could go to some good use.
But seriously, I have never asked for a handout. Your statements implying that this is the one and only thing that defines a liberal person makes me wonder how you even have the ability to turn on the computer and connect to the internet. I hope you don't drool on the keyboard to often.
If Darwin was right about evolution, then hopefully you are too dumb to breed.
The President doesn't get a free pass of 90 days for nothing when nothing is expected. The new President has to have time to find out where the bathroom is and how to unlock the doors, where he can go without the secret service on his tail, how to get some ice creme at night in the white house kitchen - you know really important stuff.
Umm have we had another attack since 911 Erik?
Liberal means free ... as in freedom of speech and all that jargon.
It does? Then why is it liberals and not conservatives that implemenet speech codes in the workplace and on the campus Erik?
"It does not mean we want "free" money."
Oh really? The last time I checked it was Democrats and liberals who were advocating governemnt social/economic welfare programs and not conservatives.
Gibbs......Obama won roughly 40% of the vote of 200,000 people. That's a far cry from needing the majority of the support from the 350 million ciitzens in this nation. He's off to a good start but only time will tell.
ALso no one answered my questions about Obama. you guys have just bashed Bush and the GOP but still no one has listed the accomplishments and experience Obama has had that prove he'd be a good president.
I'm still waiting for someone to do so but I don't expect anyone will because the guy's an empty suit.
Leave it to this dickless wonder to pick the biggest flip-flopper, vote whore in the entire race. Yeah, we need another corporatist who'll say anything to get elected. That'll work real well for us.
News flash to the clueless one: Your boy is dead meat. Not only did he fail to produce in IA, in spite of outspending #1 by 20:1, he's bound for defeat in NH, SC, and likely every other state in the coming weeks. He made the colossal mistake of aligning himself with the worst president in US history, and now he's paying the price, thankfully.
The IA caucus was a resounding vote for change, on both sides of the aisle. The public has had enough of the dreadful, miserably failed neocons. It's truly satisfying to see their agenda being so forcefully rejected by the masses.
"Obama won roughly 40% of the vote of 200,000 people."
Actually, if you combine Obama's, and Edward's votes, you have a rather shocking majority. And, when you factor in the number of republicans that supported Huckabee, the other anti-Bush candidate, you can clearly see that the trend is for anything but anything remotely Bush. Your neocon pals are dead meat. Welcome to reality, once again, loser!
"Umm have we had another attack since 911 Erik?"
What an idiot. Guess what, genius? We weren't attacked for 8 years from the first WTC attack to the second, and the second wouldn't have happened had your boy been paying attention.
Name one thing that your boyfriend has done to prevent another attack here. We know that he's exponentially increased the threat of global terrorism. We know that he continues to allow 3,000 unidentified illegals to pour through our southern border every day, and that any one of those nearly 100,000 illegals per month could be the next Atta. We know that he's done virtually nothing to protect our airports, seaports, nuclear plants, chemical plants, refineries, or any other critical infrastructures. We also know that the anthrax killer stills roams the land unimpeded and unidentified, and that both Bin Laden and his al Qaeda are being sheltered in Pakistan and continue to be funded by Saudi and Qatar royals.
So, what is it that he's done, that in your feeble little, diseased mind, has caused you to feel that he's made you more secure? Was it the plastic sheeting and duct tape? What a moron.
You can take that one to the bank komrade kent.
Second of all...how the fuck are you going to fault Bush on the illegal immigration issue and then turn around and support Obama, the greatest friend in America an illagl has?
I'm not going to defend George Bush because I think he sucks and can't wait for him to go so you can bash him all you want.
Lastly......everyone's going crazy cause Obama Bin Laden won Iowa but tell me the last person who won IA and went on to become president was......
Obama's an empty suit, inexpereienced political hack. He has nothing to offer other than regurgitated slogans with the word change in them. Obama better enjoy his little fifteen minutes of fame becasue once the Clinton hit squad gets rolling it's going to be over and he will be nothing but a memory.
Far from "an empty suit, inexperienced plitical hack" Obama daily demonstrates a synthesized reincarnation of the spirit of Lincoln, John and Robert Kennedy, the early Bill Clinton, Martin Lurther King and many others who have had real heart, authenticity, decency, humor, vision, fight, determination, and above all the character trait - most rare among politicans - integrity.
If the polls are accurate in New Hampshire Obama is already 37% to Ms. Clinton 27%. If this trend continues he will beat her decisively. And then next is South Carolina. Care to make any wagers on who will win there?
P.S. In the fight against terrorism I think America is creating a stealth weapon that is developing right in front of our eyes. The slogan for this weapon might be aptly described as:
An effective weapon to neutralize the propoganda of Osama is to elect Obama.
I made a copy of his victory speech. I have not yet edited it. Punctuation, but feel free to copy it.
Your problem is you are classifying people with no understanding what who you are talking about. Just because one liberal you met wanted to get free welfare, doesn't mean every other liberal person is trying to be a lazy bum.
Now, if only people who were truly in need were on welfare, it would be a good thing. Because as a citizen of a prospering society it is our responsibility to take care of each other when in need.
How can you love America if you don't love Americans?
However, since human error is dominant in our world, I could never support welfare because of all of its flaws.
I am liberal, I believe in making a perfect society where we live in free and peaceful lives in equality. If this is not what you believe, then you are not a real United States Citizen.
Why would you even complain about welfare when billions of dollars are being spent on war and destruction?
No more 9-11 attacks is your defense?
WHY WOULD A TERRORISTs ATTACK WHEN WE ARE DESTROYING OURSELVES FROM THE INSIDE OUT?? An attack would result in propaganda and retaliation. The terrorists are being more effective by not making a move.
Not to mention, the only other similar 9-11 attack was 8 years before 2001. So in your logic, we would not get attacked again until 2009. By using scientific evaluation, your defense has absolutely no logical testing.
And I, as a liberal, have never wanted to enforce speech codes. The FCC has always been run and enforced by Republicans. I am a musician and a writer, why would I want that?
I don't even agree with parental advisory stickers, or radio and tv censorship.
I never even heard of a "speech code" and I promise you that it does not get farther to the left than me. Because I am all for TOTAL reform. Our constitution is outdated.
Blame who you want for your crappy life. I am telling you that it wasn't the generic term "liberals".
You can take that one to the bank komrade kent."
Ok, bucko. This can be one more thing that you're dead wrong about. I'll mark it down. You might want to take a little peek see at the polls there, before you start cocking off, Einstein. I'll be right here to mock you, as usual. I'm fairly certain that you won't be around to respond.
"Second of all...how the fuck are you going to fault Bush on the illegal immigration issue and then turn around and support Obama, the greatest friend in America an illagl has?"
Because, your boyfriend has had 7 years to fix the problem, and has failed miserably, as usual. Barak hasn't been sworn in...yet. 7 years into his administration, you are entitled to criticize his immigration policy. Got it?
"Lastly......everyone's going crazy cause Obama Bin Laden won Iowa but tell me the last person who won IA and went on to become president was......"
Carter. Gee, I guess that means it can never happen again, right? Especially when he's leading by 10 points in NH already. Gosh, I wonder if he'll win SC?
"Obama's an empty suit, inexpereienced political hack. "
Ok. That's your pissant, ignorant opinion. I guess that seals it then. Obama by a landslide! Thanks!
