Interesting. Where in Iowa are you? I am Northern Iowa and in my district Obama won with Clinton and Edwards tied for second.

Huckabee won for repubs.

I'm in Northern Iowa, too, Lori. the winners I reported were just for my precinct. The statewide winners are in now and they are just as Martha reported. Huckabee (R) and Obama (D). I've never been to a caucus before. For me, the most exciting part was when everyone stood, put their hand on their heart and said the pledge of alligence. I kind of felt like I was helping to make history.

We had a record number of Democrats at our precinct as well. When the dust settled we had 4 delegate for Obama, 3 for Clinton, and 3 for Edwards. Preference groups needed 44 people to reach the 15% viability level in our precinct. Richardson came closest with 24 people out of the total of about 292 attendees. There were about 22 there for Biden and only 4-6 for Dodd. The Kucinich folks had apparently already decided who else they were going to support.

Bruce there were a couple of Dodd supporters but the rest in my district were either Obama, clinton or Edwards.

My mom from western Iowa went home a bit glum as she was only one of two people to caucus for Obama in her precinct. She was a lot happier after she turned on the news!

Jessie, all eligible voters can attend a caucus. You can register to vote at the caucus or even change your party affiliation.

There were candicates that came to locations within 30 miles of here, but we were always busy at the times they were speaking. So no, I didn't get to meet any of them. Someone from our church shook hands with Hillary at a parade in Clear Lake. I've been so busy I haven't even been reading the paper most days. I did see Huckabee on Leno though and I thought he did a great job.
