If You Are Expecting a Record Breaking Turn-Out for the Iowa Caucus'-You Are Probably Going to be Disappointed

The Iowa caucus are on everyone's mind and the topic of some rather hot debate with the morning coffee at the gas station crowd.  But how many people are planning on attending.

I will be there.

The lack of a spectacular candidate is the reason most people are giving for NOT going.

Most folks I have talked to like bits and pieces of this candidate or that one but as a whole feel that most of them don't cut the mustard.

And the one's that do plan on attending want to make sure a candidate DOESN'T win.

Have we really come down again to the lesser of 2 evils?

I still have hope that one of them will let their star shine through.

Since I will be attending the Democrat caucus tonight I will keep a close eye on Barrack Obama and John Edwards.

I see a glimmer in both.

I have tentative plans on going.
Check out the Minnesota Public Radio web site if you are having trouble finding a presidential candidate you match up with...
Another web site that I liked was GodVoter.org.

A glimmer of what. I agree that no one is jumping out as someone I would like to see as the next president. However, after Bush, whoever it is has to be an improvement.

If Iowa doesn't keep up their caucus attendance we may lose our position as first caucus state...

Wow, good for you, Lori. I really envy Iowans their chance to be so involved in the democratic process. Most people must be a bit sick of it by now, but it is a unique chance to really meet and interact with the candidates and also with your fellow voters in making such an important decision.

I would say our choices this time around are much better than in the recent past! Good luck - make sure you let us know how it goes. I'm not sure I quite understand how the caucus thing actually works.

I just hope none of the candidates win big enough in any of these early races to start claiming "landslide" as has happened in the past. There still ARE a lot of questions as to who of the available deserve the nomination. Bandwagoning by later primaries is NOT what we need this year. Personally, I think all the primaries need to be within, oh, say a MONTH of eachother, and no more - and some time in early to mid Summer, to boot - not too far before the conventions. The way it is now is nuts. May have worked in cart-and-pony days, but they're long gone.

They should go vote for whoever has the most glimmers because voting is important. I do hope that Obama does well tonight though.

It does too often seem to come down to voting for the lesser of two evils.

If America were the country I wished it was, Kucinich would be the one.

Lori- it's exciting to watch! As the results are coming in, it appears that there is heavy turn-out. Can't wait to hear what that meant in the conversations you are having there!

i just don't understand the caucus instead of our primaries. it all seems unfair. only so many people get to vote. what happens when you have to work, or you have kids, only one spouse can go, where is everyones political say?

I hope everyone knows that Dennis has asked his supporters to take Obama as their second choice. I am wondering why. My second choice was Edwards, because he is not taking the big, corporate money.

Hi Lori, it is wonderful to know that you will be there, as it seems so strange for such a small segment of the population to wield such power... then again it has to start somewhere.

I think the reason we are all pussy-footing around this election is because we know what a mess things are in this country now and... we want somebody to come in and FIX IT. The damage that has been done in the last seven years is so great, it is going to take more than one President to even unwrangle what's gone wrong.

This was my first one -- I'm glad I went.
Caucuses and primaries aren't know for drawing big crowds and that is a part of the problems with our political system.
