What Would You Do?

Okay guys.  I have a question for you all.  This is an interesting one.  I'd love it if you would tell me what you would do.  Here's the scenario.  Scientists have come out with a vaccine that cures cancer.  If you receive the vaccine you are guaranteed not to have cancer for the rest of your life.  HOWEVER, if you take the vaccine there is a 50% chance that you will die from the vaccine.  What would you do?  Take the vaccine and take your chances?  Or skip the vaccine and take your chances with cancer?

I would take my chances with cancer, since cancer is always preventable. It is all about what we put inside ourselves & the environment in which we allow ourselves to live.
At least that is what I beleive.

Just to clarify there is no vaccine like this. This is a hypothetical situation. My husband and I were watching a Stargate Atlantis yesterday and they came across a vaccine that made them immune to a certain enemy. The only problem was it killed half the people who had it. But the population as a whole (96% majority) decided to go ahead with the vaccine anyway.

I would refuse the vaccine - the odds are better on the side of not getting cancer rather than make them even by taking it.

Melinda, that's not correct. Women over 20 (and those who are sexually active) can get the cervical cancer vaccine.

To the question at hand - anyone who would get this mythical "cure for all cancer" vaccine with a 50/50 shot at croaking on the spot is an idiot.

It's not a good example because less than 1% of the population dies from cancer each year.

If the question was concerning a vaccine would make you immortal, now that would be a whole lot more difficult a choice.

Try that one and see what responses you get. And add to it: once you passed the age of 21 or got sick the vaccine wouldn't work. Post this and see the responses. The reason I want you to post it is because I thought you said you wanted points.

too high of a risk from the vaccine, but if one's genetics were especially prone to cancer, some might take it at a lower risk rate - but not me
