We spent the end of 2007 with what has been a large part of our lives together - out in the woods. This past Saturday we walked along the hiking trail on our property.
This is a tiny waterfall as seen from a foot bridge.

This is one of our three major waterfalls along our path. We are working on the path along side this waterfall and the next one which we will call Waterfall Wind.

This waterfall is approximately six feet high. We have put railroad ties as steps down one side, as it is rather steep.

This forms a small pool area, where my relatives who lived here before us actually bathed prior to 1950. My cousin told me he first showered after joining the military. It's ironic now, that most of my relatives ended up being plumbers, contractors and electricians after starting out this way.
Continuting to walk along the creek.
That's me in the red. I tend to wear bright colors this time of year. I still hear the shots from hunters ocassionally. I even wear bright colors to the mailbox during this time of year. We don't allow hunting on our property, but still I don't want to die over bills or junk mail.

This started out as a damp place that fed into the creek down below. We suspected a spring and have been making a dam on one side to contain the water. We also suspected this was once a pond (a newer pond sits down below), and asked my cousin who said he remembered his dad dynamiting it out to form a pond.

I was amazed when I saw this picture. This is the same pond from the other side. You can faintly see me sitting on our meditation rock under the beam of sunlight.
These pictures were taken this past Saturday. Yesterday, we closed out 2007 by going to Grayson Lake State Park to hike. The photos really turned out beautiful from there. That will be part two of the photo essay.
Happy 2008,
Chris and Jerri
