We're Staying Home Tonight - How About YOU??

It is very cold outside.  However, in our house, Isabel, we are warm and cozy.  We have a nice fire going in the wood stove.  The animals are all over the place like throw rugs.  I've got a stack of good books to read.  The husband wants to watch old movies in a few minutes.  Why should we go anywhere?  Besides it is very cold outside.  Very cold.  Something like 9 degrees!  We could walk downtown which is four blocks down the hill but we really don't feel like trudging over snow and ice.  I hate to miss the festivities at the Opera House and would hate to miss any of our old friends.  After all, we've been coming to this little town for 25 years.  The New Year's Eve Dance is where we run into the alfalfa farmers and cattle ranchers from Diamond Valley.  We keep thinking that maybe they decided not to drive into town because of the weather.  It doesn't matter.  Maybe we're supposed to stay home tonight and keep the dogs company.  I'm just hoping I can stay up as late as midnight to welcome in the New Year.  Just in case, I want to wish all of you a wonderful new year ahead.  Happy 2008. What are you doing right now?  Thank you.  Salud.

I'm sitting here by my Christmas tree with one of my cats curled up beside me. I had hoped to go out and "do something" but that didn't happen. It's cold here, too but probably around 25. I haven't taken my tree down yet as I love to look at the lights and have been gone the last few days.

I doubt that I will last til midnight, although the neighbors fireworks will wake me up if I do go to sleep.

I am staying home with the kids. We are going to watch the ball drop and pop a bottle of Sparkling Cider. I have some party poppers and confetti. It sounds like fun to me. I hope you enjoy your books and a fire. It sounds wonderful to me!

Hi Miz Wilma - I have a cat up here too - a kitten actually but the big boys scare her. Oh I always leave my tree up until the Epiphany and then it becomes a Mardi Gras tree! Enjoy your evening!!!

We're staying in. We got fresh snow this evening and it's 12 degrees. I like watching the shows about the year in review, plus I'm reading World Without End by Ken Follett. I open it and in five minutes I'm deep in the Middle Ages. I can just imagine you two all cozy there at Isabel, the stars shining in the cold sky.

I'm wishing you a Happy New Year! I just watched them drop the ball at Times Square and I feel as if it is after midnight here in Californiia and I'm going to bed. If I'm awake at midnight PST I will beat on a pan and wake up the coyotes and the one horse staying here tonight with his master.

Happy New Year, Mariana! It is so much colder in the desert than here. It was 13 degrees one morning in Death Valley - and that's supposed to be the hottest place on earth :-) Stay warm. We are experiencing bad Santa Ana winds tonight so I'm not going anywhere either. Hanging out at an old opera house would be fun though.

I stayed home and had vodka and sparking cider with champagne at midnight. I baked some pork chops and threw in some French fries and had my own little end of the year feast. In bed around 1AM...and back up at 3:30. I'm finishing off my leftover champagne and will definitely be taking a nap later...sometime later this morning. Party on, girl...just like all us old folks do...right at home!

I stayed up late talking to magi and faith on Skype last night...though all three of us in different parts of the world didn't make it till midnight....though I did bring in the New Year with magi and marinela yesterday morn on skype. Perth is 14 hours ahead of Boston.

We met our dearest friends for an early dinner, home by 8:30 with a good movie to watch, just the two of us together to ring in 2008. Life is very sweet.

Happy New Year to you! My husband, myself and our two kids (Maddie and Aidan) all stayed in last night! I don't like going out on New Years. Too many drunks out on the road!
We had supper together, and after we got the baby to bed, then we played Candy Land with our daughter about 5 times. Me and my husband were trying to win, and she won almost every time! We popped popcorn and just lounged around and watched New Years stuff on TV.
It was a nice relaxing evening at home. I stayed up long enough to kiss hubby and wish him a Happy New Year, and then I was sound asleep!!!!
I stayed home too. NYE is amateur night and too many drinkers think they can drive. So I through a Gather Party!

Well, into second day of the new year and all is well!!!! Glad you and hubby had a great one. I am trying to catch up on gather......by the time I am reading all my stuff I feel like it is 'history' (LOL)!!! The weather has come in with a bang in SC....high today only mid 30's and tonight down to 16...............now that is cold for us South Carolinians!! Have fun and a great week!!
