I have two school age kids. I am the room mother to my oldest son's class so I was helping with the Christmas Party in that class and planning on popping over to my other son's class in the middle of it.
On the day of the party, my oldest son called me around noon. He said his stomach hurt and he wanted to come home. I asked him if he was sure, after all it was the day of the class Christmas party and they only get 2 parties in school a year. He said yes so I asked the teacher if he felt better if I could bring him the party and she said yes.
When we got home, I gave him some medicine and he layed down. I still had to bring stuff to the party so I was getting ready (decked out in my red shirt, santa hat, christmas necklace and Santa earrings) to go. I asked my son before I left if he felt like going and he said yes. Fast forward to a few minutes later when he threw up. So of course I knew he needed to stay home. My Mom watched him and I left to go to the school, knowing that he was in safe hands.
First I went into my oldest son's classroom and dropped off the goody bags I had made. I had previously left other party items that they would need. I was happy to see several parents helping out so I gave the teacher a small gift (chocolate and a candle) and said that I would come back after the party in my other son's classroom.
I had not planned on being in my other son's classroom long but was happy to go because one of the things I hate most about having two school age children is that I can't be in two places at once. I helped set up the party items and the kids came in like a swarm of bees from recess. The teacher read them a story and then they went to their seats for their treats.
Ready to eat all the goodies.

You want me to smile when I have all this sugar in front of me??

These treats taste pretty good

Posing with the teacher

Mmm, juice.

Why can't I have this much sugar all the time?

Ohhh... does she have something I want?

I always make goody bags for the class parties and holidays. You can do it very cheapy and that's good because I'm always broke lol. I'm surprised that more parents don't do it at their school but one other Mom did it in my son's class. They were about the same but Mine had a necklace bell that I made taped on the outside that the kids immediately put on...hehe :)
The goody bags:

Before I left my oldest son's class (The one who was sick and missed his party), I took a picture of the classroom with the party stuff on their desks so he could at least see his classroom. You can't tell that much that there is party stuff, but it's there! :)

After my oldest son threw up at home... he felt fine... so he could have went to the party. I feel for him because when I was a kid I was sick for tons of school parties and missed out on so much. But I did bring home lots of party stuff so he got to do the crafts when I got home.

They always have a smile on their faces.
Each student in the class had written stories over the weeks before the last day before break. I came in as well as many parents and there were red/green frosted cupcakes and Christmas candies...
So a good time was had by all - but WHY must we be so politically correct???
I brought the teachers and secretaries Christmas gifts :)
Happy New Year All!!!
