Gather's Most Ridiculous For 2007

Some of these articles, comments within articles, and innuendos have given me some of the greatest Gather entertainment for this year. A few of them had been published by me in a previous article updating one of my connections on Gather nonsense while she was absent for awhile. Since I couldn't find too many to top these, they are also included here. See if you made the list. No names have been mentioned to protect the guilty in order to be in keeping with the most liberal mindsets. (That last sentence will get me some ratings, I'm sure.)

I invite you to submit your vote on what you think is the most ridiculous Gather statement in any of these articles.Also, be sure to add any you may have come across that I've missed.  Hope you enjoy these as much as I did.

 This Year's Top Ten

1. Trailer houses will prevent diabetes.

2. A commentator writes in this article that people can't be subdued without being tortured. 

3. Edwards is a conservative's biggest fear and has been for quite awhile.

4. Children should not be sheltered from any truths. They need to learn the cold, hard facts of sickness, deceit, death, corruption, and any other negative actualities as soon as possible.

5. Please join us in asking the presidential candidates to engage in an ongoing conversation with America. What a great idea. This has some incredible potential.

 

6. Those who are most actively against outsourcing gave their back yard dirt for Christmas presents this year. They no longer use toilet tissue or computers.

7. According to this commentator, wanting amnesty for illegals is the only thing Bush has done right. 

 

8. Two Gatherites Go Into Business.

9. When Gather first updated the profile feature there were 73 Mensa members.

10. I did not write this because I don't really exist. I'm merely one of Lady Nalita's alters.

I have to say that the article about the Two Gatherites Going into Business was my favorite. I enjoyed it tremendously.
However, for the most ridiculous comment made on an article, I'd have to go with the last article you posted. I did have a lot of fun with that one too.

No surprise to see mostly political articles making the most ridiculous list.
There were only two articles that were political, Shannon, numbers three and seven. If you read #5, you'll know the reason it made this list has nothing to do with politics at all. You're right, though, it was difficult not to make all of them politically related. I could have had hundreds!

Frankly, I thought the idea of calling voters to insinuate that John McCain was the father of an illegitimate black child was ridiculous but turns out it was effective. I thought the television ad painting Harold Ford as a crazed chaser of white women's skirts was ridiculous as well. Turned out it was effective. There are those in the preferred party of bigots that think and hope that others think as they do. They would like their candidates running against a women or a black man. It is the white male candidate that frightens them. I stand by my comment.

Nalita I am not saying that I don't think Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama are not electable. I think they both certainly are. I am saying that there are those on the other side that are banking that they are not.
Last night I drank Bass Ale. Sometimes I drink vodka. Sometimes I drink Merlot or Cabernets. Sometimes I like mixed drinks like Martinis or Bloody Mary's. . Sometimes I like marguerita coolers, though I don't usually care for tequila. Sometimes I like Baileys. There are lots of others too. I don't drink the same thing all the time. Only alcoholics do that. I really enjoy my liquor.

If my comment is the third most ridiculous comment you have read on Gather this year than you have just not been paying attention.
They aren't in any particular order, Kay, and I didn't even realize that you were the one who had made that comment. These were just ones that I had come across that I thought were particularly funny. You must admit that saying that Edwards is, and has been for a long time, a conservative's biggest fear can be taken rather humorously. I'm a conservative, and I haven't given him a second thought.

Am I the only one who doesn't drink? I tried sangria once a long time ago. And never again. lol
I know, Lera, it never ends. If we had really started that business, we'd have been in the money by now!
The only John Edwards that I pay any attention to is the one who talks to dead people....you know, he has a show "Crossing oVER", oh yeah, and I know him personally too.
I just drink that at a particular Mexican restaurant that makes it so well. I'm sure Katie's is very good too, but she's not around here. You went on vacation and didn't have one drink?

The brand I buy is available in the Northeast too Sue. It's Carlo Rossi. I found it when I lived up there. It's about $13. a gallon but it's really the best I've found and I've tried quite a few. Even used to make my own.

No, it's easier since I found a good brand. The only good thing about making your own is you get to eat the fruit when all the wine is gone and get stoned again, lol.

Nope, not one drink while on vacation.

I think I needed a better brand of sangria to try out way back when. I was use to drinking Boones Farm and Annie Green Springs back then! LOL

The last drink I had was a pina colada back in July when we went to Chicago. That was yummy, like a dessert.
Well I just don't like sweet wine so that's the reason I just like it at this particular restaurant.They use lots of lemons and oranges. I can only drink it with Mexican food, too.

OK, Chick, I'll hold you to finding me some next year.

Found out (my sister called me) that my brother was in the hospital with gall bladder pain....it seems he has about 100 stones and they want to operate but he is waiting to see his own dr. on Wednesday.. Lucky him we don't have socialized medicine and he has the choice. I'd want to wait and opt for lazer treatment as well.
Always.....and if there weren't, we make some for you. Man what a paaaaaataaaayyyy that would be.
Also, if he has a deductible, better to wait til tomorow, at least. Hope he's better. Laser treatments are great. I would never opt for invasive surgery if i needed it and had that choice.

Lol Sue. We found out that if reservations are made ahead of time, you can fly to valdosta via connection in Atlanta for as cheap as Jacksonville. I was glad to find that out as JAX is two hours drive both ways and valdosta airport is like um, 10 minutes.

You know, they have some real morons here. When I wrote this article I made a snide parenthetical above, about liberals lowering the ratings with a great deal of purpose. I knew that if I mentioned that they would low rate the article that they wouldn't do it. Right now the rating is still a 10 on this one. They deliberately left this one a ten to prove me wrong, and went to the other one and low rated that one instead. Let's see what happens when they read this. If I were a psyche or sociology major going for a PhD, I would use this site to write my dissertation.

These are not really trailers, Deb, but I don't really see the difference, I have to say. They are real "looking" houses built on top of trailer fixtures. Big difference, huh? As far as I'm concerned, they are trailers and they would, indeed, be bad enough to elicit the response you wrote.
