Eat early, eat often...but eat right.
I watch my fat because I have high cholestrol...and since one gram of fat has more than twice as many calories as protein or carb, it worked like a charm.
52 pounds in 52 weeks...4 years ago...and counting.
Walking helps, but I have been bad about that...am going to force myself to get back in the habit starting January 2 when I go back to work.
My weightloss strategy is to watch salt and sugar, limit protein, eat complex carbs and pplenty of fruits andveggies and water!!!!
I have tried almost everything under the sun except surgery the doctors have been pushing that for years.
I did lose 100 pounds in 1978 but I was on the my life is over, I am down a well, I have no money to eat and I want to kill myself and die diet. It worked except I lived but I don't recommend it.
I already eat low on the food chain, preferring salads but I do drink wine and when I do - oh I snack on something salty like cheese and crackers and then of course want something sweet - so there you have it - but I do walk quite a bit - but what I will do in the new year is to not drink wine except on weekends - this is effective for me. I also want to do a cleansing diet to roto-root my insides - also, drink more water - I know I have to drink 8 glasses a day but find I drink only about 4. Also, going to do more yoga - My goal is to lose 10 pounds by Easter. Salud.
I can honestly say I did not exercise much .. BUT I did try to be more active then usual. Once I started losing weight it actually got easier and easier .. like my body was just melting into shape. I no longer craved the junk foods .. I was looking and feeling great and my self esteem was really growing ont something great too!
I did not gain any of it back .. until recently. I now work 6 days a week and I am always rushing .. and then to add to the fun I am pregnant. So my goal after the baby is born is to go strict on myself and make myself healthy once again ..
One of my friends who is a vegan and total health nut (lol .. love ya Kel!) Once told me if you feed your body junk you will feel like junk .. and look like junk. If you give your body the good things it deserves it will show :) in positive and healthy ways. Needless to say she is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met! She even grows her own fruits and veggies ..
Don't focus on losing weight .. focus on getting healthy. Change your life into something healthy for yourself and you body will follow!
To anyone trying to lose weight .. good luck and I hope you all succeed!
The hardest thing to do is keep the weight off after you lose it. Only one in five people manage to do that.

Now, I am lazy and if I tried to keep an actual journal, it would never work. So I just keep a list of what I am eating on the fridge. That way, I just jot it down when I am in the kitchen, waiting for something to heat up or what have you.
I don't pay attention to calories, but am very mindful of fat content. I try to eat as many whole, unprocessed foods as possible (fresh fruit, big salads with tuna, lean chicken or turkey, milk, whole wheat bread and unsalted nuts). Fitday.com is also a very handy tracker. By using it, I found that I wasn't getting enough calcium and I was able to correct that mistake in time.
