It's 12:30 on New Year's Eve, and I have to think about dinner. Of course, at 12:30 on any given day, I'm thinking about dinner, but today is special.
Rather than try to make a reservation at a restaurant somewhere where it will be loud, smoky and obnoxious, I will probably just cook something really good at home. On a recent trip to California, Corina and I checked out the Korbel Winery, and I came away with a very nice bottle of champagne (Le Premier). We sat around on their patio eating California-ish sandwiches and sipping champagne. It was a lunch made in heaven! So, it may be time to uncork that baby.
As for food choices, I'm not sure what to choose. I have to go to the store shortly, so I'll be taking some inspiration from my friends. Chicken? Fish? Pork? (We did that yesterday.) Veal? Lamb? Oh, I know! Buffalo steak!
As for sides, I'm partial to asparagus, but I did pick some brussels sprouts from the backyard yesterday, and boy, were they wonderful!
Or, I could get a suitcase of sliders from White Castle...

I decided to do the same this year. I am going broil a couple of steaks, toss a salad and bake a couple of spuds. Nothing fancy, I am still exhausted from Christmas. After dinner I just want to snuggle with hubby and watch a couple of movies.
My Pomeranian male, Piglet, is neutered, but in spite of that fact, he humps our female neutered dog and unfortunately, the cat. I say unfortunately, because the cat, also neutered, kind of likes it. What should we do?
Signed,
Puzzled
I think it will be fish here tonight - lemon pepper tilapia most likely with mashed potatoes and broccoli.
I would like to eat at Donna's house tonight.
I think we're just have a random bunch of munchies--fresh cooked shrimp, some nice cheeses and olives, maybe some pate, and whatever else looks good at the store. I like not having to make anything (besides the shrimp). We'll wash it down with Gather Orange champagne. Yum.
I'm popping a bottle of Korbel tonight, too. The pink sweet stuff we tried, muscato frizzanti. Of course I'll probably drink the whole bottle myself. I think I'll be all alone.
Yeah, I don't like crap champagne. I have had some inexpensive cava (Spanish sparkling wine) that I like. I'd love to try Veuve Cliquot La Grande Dame some day. Hopefully the toothache I had last night won't return. Last night I had to take pain meds that made me loopy and have weird dreams with Nippy Katz (the frog, not the man) in them.
