Swedish to English family member words...

Family member title names in Svenska (Swedish). All words in parenthesis are (English). All words after ... (three dots/periods) are plural noun.

1. Föräldrar (parents)... Föralder (parent)

Fader, Far, Pappa (father, dad, papa)... fäder (fathers)
Moder, Mor, Mamma (mother, mom, mama)... mödrar (mothers)
- Son (son)... söner (sons)
- Dotter (daughter)... döttrar (daughters)

2. Paternal ~ Father's side of the family...

Farfar (grandfather ~ father's father)
Farmor (grandmother ~ father's mother)
- Farbror (uncle ~ brother's brother)
- Faster (aunt ~ brother's sister)

§ Notice that the first three letters used is FAR same as father, makes it easier to know who's side is the realtion.

3. Maternal (Mother's side of the family)...

Morfar ~grandfather (mother's father)
Mormor ~ grandmother (mother's mother)
- Morbror ~ uncle (mother's brother)
- Moster ~ aunt (mother's sister)

§ Notice that the first three letters used is MOR same as mother, makes it easier to know who's side is the realtion.

4. In-Laws

Svärfar (father-in-law)
Svärmor (mother-in-law)
