I love old books:) As a child, I would love to alphabetize all of my parents old books that they had inherited from their grandparents and great grandparents.

I really enjoyed the word play as if you were riffling through the pages of the past. The image and title enhance the experience. The lines are stacked like the books as well. I got a little stuck myself, with the last three lines as I am not sure of their meaning in the flow of the preceding lines.

simply loved it ....first thing I read after 3 days and absolutely enjoyed the word flow and the meaning they convey ..

I am going home and there is a big space of my old books cards and such things that My brother don't let anyone touch ..its in his room and even dicarded pieces of paper are lying there as I left them almost 3 and half years ago ...:-)

lol, i once had so many old books, bwana, that my FLOOR fell in!! Now, i tend to get from the library or from friends, so i may give them BACK!! Sure miss my old friends, tho... :)

I know what you mean. I grew up in a home filled with old books. Everytime I opened one I felt the secrets from the past were being revealed to me.

I want to say that what struck me the final stanza is comprised of verbs modified by the adverbs....giving it motion as it draws down...

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I hope that being with your family brings you some comfort. I have thought of you often and said some prayers for you. Be gentle with yourself. This is a tough time you are going through. If I can do anything, please let me know.

Beautiful poem. I love old books too,-- I collect the older Reader's Digest hardcover books, first started collecting because I love the colors and designs then I started reading the short stories, now I am always on the hunt for them!
