I have been given a challenge and my mission is now clear. I am going to try the Ultimate Tea Diet. How do I start?? With the book of course. Mark Ukra has spelled out all that I have to do and it is really simple.
I will replace my regular Diet Coke with tea throughout the day and at meal times, eat well balanced meals, keeping an eye on portion control and get out there and exercise.
The benefits of tea that Ukran lays out in his book are really astounding. It is one mean, green, weight loss losing weapon and your options are endless.
So far, I have learned that all teas are really the same. All tea comes from the same plant, whether it is Green, Black, Oolong, or White, it all comes from the Camellia sinensis. The health benefits that you hear about green tea, for example, can be achieved with the others as well. I had no idea!
The only difference is in herbal type teas. If they don't contain anything from the Camellia sinensis, they are really a "tisane". And while you can drink those while following this plan, Ukra says that for the weight loss one-two punch, you need to drink true "tea" most of the time.
So I am off to warm up my kettle and get down to business. I will be sharing my journey with you over the next few weeks. Although, I do not need to lose weight, I am hoping that by doing this, I will get back just some of the get up and go that I have been missing lately and be eating a lot healthier.

I bought my first box at Kroger.
The tea is called "weightloss tea" - its made with cloves and other fun herbs.
I started drinking this tea 3 times a day and with in 3 months I had lost 20lbs!
Best stuff ever!!
Lots of luck with the tea diets! They totally work!
I must point out. I am not doing this to lose weight. I don't need to lose weight, but I really need to start eating better. My eating habits are atrocious and I am looking at this as an opportunity to get back to a healthier me. I love tea and from what I have read so far, the benefits to adding more of it to my diet are huge. Although the book is a "diet" book, I am looking at it as a path to feeling better, eating better, and just plain getting some structure back into my eating habits.
Laura, you are right, there really is no such thing as Decaf. I knew this and the books points it out as well. Therefore, the author says that you can drink Decaf if that is what you normally drink. (I usually do, because it tends to give me the jitters otherwise)
I was skeptical too, but in reading further, it makes a lot of sense. Ukra suggests drinking tea when tempted to give into cravings. Want a sweet? Try Raspberry tea, no calories and it fills you up.
The other thing that tea has is the antioxidant EGCG, which is supposed to help boost your metabolism.
Tea was a major part of my 50 pound weight loss. It works! All liquids help but there are some people with specific medical conditions who do need to consult with a trusted medical person to know if they need to restrict liquids, people with severe kidney or other conditions.
Thanks, I should have added a disclaimer....
I am actually way underweight, so I am hoping that this will get me to eat a bit more and therefore perk me up a bit.
Thanks for your comment on my poem.
Happy New Year to you and yours,
That all teas were more or less equal was a shock to me too!
Hope you have a safe and Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you too!
Eat less and move more!!!
Low fat, high fiber, no red meats, small meals, cut wayyyyyy back on sugar, drink lots of tea and water.
I am also a firm believer the only weight you lose by buying a book about weight loss is the weight in your purse.
Good luck though. I am always behind anyone who wants to get rid of the excess baggage.
Good luck with this.

I am enjoying it so far.
I would like to speak to some of the wonderful comments above.
1. tea will prove itself to be the easiest way you ahve ever attempted to lose weight.
2. Caffeine: Tea as explained in the book, is one of 2 plants that contain L-theanine which thwarts caffeines harmful effects. If caffeine is a problem, then steep your tea and throw away the liquid from the first steep and then re-steep your tea with 90 plus per cent caffeine free.
3. Marilyn: Your comments are right on! Exactly why I wrote the book, because losing should not be the chore it is. Tea wll aid the process. This is proven in study after study. I am please to see we share the same opinions.
5. A major point touched on by Linda is replacing your fattening craving foods with a tea replacement. So if you love candy bars, find a candy bar type tea or look for my dr. tea candy bar black tea at less than 5 calories a cup. I deveoped this tea for me when I weas addicted to candy bars and placed real chocolate and caramel bits right into the black tea to satisfy my cravings.
6. Ice tea is fine. Try to find one with a natural sweetner from real fruit so you do not have to add much sugar.
4. Please e-mail me any questions drtea@teagarden.com or visit my site www.ultimateteadiet.com. All of you have amny fine comments.
Keep up the great work. Remember if you say you can loose weight you will loose weight!
Dr. Tea
the results you're
looking for with this one.
I cut out the middle man and have my own mint plants. I have chocolate, spearmint, and peppermint. They grow right on my window sill in the kitchen, so you don't need a lot of room.
My biggest thing is to be healthy too. I try hard, but sometimes I fail. That is okay too:)
How many leaves do you need in each cup. Do u place the leaves in the cup? Do you dry the leaves? Is it stronger than pre bagged tea? Is their chocolate leaves really! wow, learn new things every day thanks!
Oh, web workout buddys needed please!:)

How much you use is really up to your tastes. You can make it strong or weak. It won't pack a punch like an old school black tea does, but I am not a big fan of really heavy teas. You could add some black tea if you like it stronger.
Going to check out your buddys right now:)
