Forming a new group to post Phenology Observations

Phenology is the study of the timing of natural events. Common examples include the date that migrating birds return, the first flower dates for plants, and the date on which a lake freezes in the autumn or opens in the spring. Phenological records help alert us about the events of nature and provide interesting comparisons between years and among different geographic regions. If recorded carefully and consistently, these records also have scientific value for understanding the interactions between organisms and their environment and for assessing the impacts of climate change.

Let me be more clear on my understanding of this group. You do not want articles about, for example, birds, unless it pertains to dates. correct?

Yes a date. As simple as this Jan the geese left the lake with photos os geese leaving the lake.

Not sparrows but Swallows rreturn to Capistrano around March 19

I think it is a cool and knowlegeable group idea. Still cannot find the word in my Oxford dictionary though. Maybe the spelling's off. Either case, I will try to find something interesting to submit.

Every year in the winter I look forward to the arrival to flocks of snowbirds. They come from the arctic north, are mostly white, and even with all the snow on the ground a flock of them are so unusual to see that to me they stand out! I'll be on the lookout for them starting in January. I hope I can catch a photo of them. I live in MI.
