Robin Miller Quick Fix Meals
Paperback 2007 ISBN: 978156158940
I really enjoy watching Quick Fix with Robin Miller on the Food Network.
Although I don't always agree with some of the things she prepared ahead of
time, for instance pasta and rice. They only take a few minutes to prepare
and taste so much better when freshly made in most cases. I do find some of
her ideas helpful though. One of those is to prepare extra of whatever you're|
cooking, like chicken, fish, beef or pork, to use in more than one dish later
in the week. Robin calls this morphing.
In this book she explains how to have a quick fix kitchen in the first
chapter. The next chapters are In the Bag; Meal Kits for Meals in Moments;
Morph It; One Recipe Many Meals; Dinner Express: From Pantry to Table in 30
Minutes or Less; Simple Sides: Salads, Veggies, and Grains to Complete your
meal; and finally, There's Always Time for Desert: Sweets in a Hurry.
We've tried several recipes from her shows and I'm looking forward to trying
some from the book. I assume that some of them were shown or will be shown on
her shows since the title of the book is the same. Robin's moto is Life can
be complicated - but dinner doesn't have to be.
There are a few color photos in the center of this book. Recipes are written
in green and a brownish color. I like the information she includes with each
recipe. In the side bars she also includes things like good health notes,
quick fix notes, storage savvy, ingredients notes, variations, time saver
tips and quick fix it your way tips. If you have a busy lifestyle but still
want to put delicious meals that are easy to prepare, on the table for your
family I think you'd also like this book.

And I would never cook pasta or rice ahead!
Common sense has a name now "morphing". I do this regularly. Say a roast chicken and rice on Sunday when I have extra time to cook becomes leftovers Monday (chicken and gravy with sauteed mushrooms and onions on toast) Tuesday (chopped Chicken and chopped potatoes fried with onions) Wednesday (chicken, peppers, onions, leftover rice and cottage cheese burritos) Thursday (migas - bits of chicken & veggies in breadcrumbs with an egg on top) Friday (the broth from the carcass with onions & spinach as soup, or in the crock pot all day with beans) Any one who wouldn't eat leftovers in my house wouldn't eat. Of Course - they don't look or taste like leftovers . . . . but nothing is wasted.
thanks for the review and info
i wil look into this one
Shannon, she had her two small sons on the show once helping her and they were gobbling up all the ingredients.
Fran, I agree she has some good ideas and some I can do without.
Richard nothing is wasted here either. I'm glad my family likes the way I use our leftovers. I love your ideas. Thanks!
Thanks Becky and Risa!
Marianne, I though her moto was good too.
Ellie, You're right about the micro but I'd still rather have fresh unless it's for fried rice like Janine mentioned. I like your secret for using the presure cooker for rice I'd never even thought of that. You're right about the secret to lefovers.
Janie, I guess those two would be considered morphed meals. I've never tried making my own lo mein but I love it. I have made fried rice though and we love that too. Great way to use left over rice.
Thanks everyone!
