Christmas is usually my favorite time of year. I love to decorate and I have even been known to put garland around the bathroom mirror. But times have changed and I have many animals that make decorating almost impossible. The cats tend to like shiny dangling things. The cats knock things down and the dogs chew them. I think they are in on this together. LOL. So I came up with the idea of the Christmas room. We have a spare bedroom that we use for storage. I thought it would be great to put the tree up in there and decorate the room. We would keep the door closed and the animals can't get in.
Last year was a very miserable year for me and I didn't even want to put up the tree. I promised myself that this year would be different. I started early. The tree went up and I started to decorate it and the room. My boyfriends dad got very sick and that hindered my plans a bit. It was a struggle, but I managed to complete the room. I worked on it a little bit each night after we came home from the hospital. I would love to show off my hard work, but first, the reasons for the Christmas room........
Reason number 1

Reason number 2- and yes, there are 11 of them there.

This mess is where everything begins. It was a bit overwelming at first but it all worked out nicely.

Tom put up the tree for me and I managed to get the lights on right the first time and no swearing either.

The garland went on easy too but there was a little swearing with the star, nothing that a quick cut with the scissors wouldn't fix

Not the greatest picture but I couldn't get it right.

Now its time for the ornaments. Here are a few of my favorites. The first one is a picture of me and my son. It was taken about 17 years ago.

I love cardinals. We bought this ornament this year at the dollar store.

This is a very old ornament that my mother gave me. It was used on our tree when I was little. I have a few of thses old ones.

This is another one we bought this year. Its a special one in honor of my dog who passed away.

This is one of Tom's favorites. He loves Taz.

We got this one at a yard sale. We got about 5 boxes of Christmas stuff for $20.

Another yard sale one.

My son made this one for me when he was in first grade.

These are ornaments that my sister made for me and Tom. She is the creative one in the family.

Now on to the wall hangings. The first set are decorations that my son made for me when he was little.

The next pictures are mostly things we got at the yard sale and some things my sister made for me.

The next set of pictures is all the bells and pinecones that I hung from the ceiling.

And finally, all four of my "table" top displays. I used the empty storage bins and a desk to put things on after I covered them in red tissue paper.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of my Christmas room. I have already started to take it down but I am sure it will take longer than it did to put it up. I kind of like going in there and sitting in the chair. I turn on the tree and just sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet. Thats until the cats start scratching at the door. LOL. Happy New Year everyone!
