The Sheriff's department is offering a self defense class and guess who signed up for it! RIGHT ME!!!! After what happened to Cheryl, who was a wonderful, warm and loving woman, I, like a lot of women around this county, am upset and yes AFRAID. I told my hubby that it worries me to drive from home to town for groceries. So when I found out that the Sheriff department was going to have the classes, I got on the phone and enrolled. If a woman in her early 40's was no match for whoever killed her, than a woman my age 62 and not in the best of health, what could I do to protect myself?
Cheryl's car was found at the side of the highway with a flat tire, but now they are saying that it is possible that she is not the one that drove the car to that location.Whoever had her, got her ATM card and used it 3 times. They even have him on camera. But he had made a mask of some type, had a hat on so you couldn't see his hair, goggles so his eyes were not visible, and had on long sleeves and gloves so no skin was exposed to tell his skin color or if he had hairy arms or smooth. So many things done to cover things up. They do have 2 vehicles they are interested in locating. One is a truck that has a "wrap" on it.
I pray that it will not be long before they catch this man or men, or women or whoever it is that did this terrible deed. But that class will help me feel safer, and more able to protect myself if I ever need to.
Cheryl's death has brought this community closer. At church, we women that are by ourself will be walked out to our cars and stayed with until we are safely on our way.
