I hereby signal my return to Gather with this light hearted poem.
I will soon comment on and respond to all the inputs of my dear friends.
I was away for a while. To a bush camp for a period of spiritual growth.
The Poem
Should one yearn for an emotion?
Perhaps I'm not the one to ask
For my heart is quite drained out
As anything kept in a vampire's cask.
Ah, when I discovered wild romance
My desire filled a whole reservoir
In waves I bountifully gave my love
But now on empty, I can charm no more.
Once I freely gave without a care
In flirting frenzies without receipt
I can't remember all the names
Of the honeys' I found so sweet.
If any of you can remember my smile
Perhaps my words of love and my warm embrace
Kindly return one ounce of passion
And put that smile back on my face.

Keep smiling and keep writing...
Saludos desde España.

I'm smiling at your return.
Welcome back, Fred, I hope the bush worked its magic on you and your soul. As for the passion of which you speak, I offer it freely as friend and admirer.
I hope that was a great retreat you went on and provided all the nurture you needed.
Oh yes I missed you too. Life without Gather but especially my dearest friends, seems to be a little empty but it was necessary for me to go on that camp.
I don't ever want to stop seeing the beauty all aound us.
I wish you all the best and thank you for your wishes.
Hahaha...two ounces from you is worth a gold ingot from anyone else. A thank you from me with my best wishes.
May I especially thank you for seeing unplumbed depths whenever you read a poem.
It's a great gift that you have and it helps us on our poetic paths.
I think that I can safely say that anyone on Gather will never "run on empty."
Saludos desde Pretoria.
Oh I'm smiling. I think that I'm smiling because you are smiling and because you enjoyed the poem. Thank you.
Yes, you're right, the poem is based on an inner strength of the narrator. As you have correctly seen, there is no "woe is me" to be found. The speaker probably as a glass of wine in his hand.
The bush always has this incredible magic. I don't want to explain it because then it may go away.
Thank you for your offer and I return it readily.
About the retreat kindly have a look at my response to Tom's comment. The bush is beautiful. It's not there for humans. We're just visitors to an animal kingdom. It's theirs.
That's why I never shoot.
In my liitle finger? Wow. But I see your point. I find joy to be very pleasurable...if you know what I mean.
Thank you Nana for your comment and wishes.
Joy is just around the corner. One just has to go there.
There is one line that seems to break the rhythmic flow. 'Of the honey's that I found so sweet.' I would prefer it to read:
'Of the honey I found so sweet.'
Smile and the world smiles with you. Keep smiling.
As for this poem, I see magic sprinkled through out. Vampires, romance, desire, honeys, passion...My kind of magic.
Thank you for sharing with me.
This is a honey of a poem, Fred, one understood well enough to be appreciated.
Swooned giddy from his rakish smile
He nearly knocked me off my feet
With his honey coated guile
Add weekly muse to this poem treat
To enter the group's fine file
Sometimes we must recharge the battery.
Your poem speaks of melancholy and longing..
" Kindly return one ounce of passion
And put that smile back on my face."
Ah,if only it could be so easy, like starter dough for sour dough bread.
Perhaps a kiss from a friend...pucker up!
If not..perhaps humor may get a spark going to rekindle the flame of passion..at least get the juices flowing!
I invite you, dear Fred, to go here for a smile and maybe a chuckle...
A Tale of GRISTmas~ for all my Gather friends!
we are all players....
Is this a cry out in the wilderness? is something missing?
Love you
My eyes are open and I see joy and compassion everywhere. Did you know that I've a very special ability for seeing magic? It's for all to see in my pieces.
Hey thanks for your smile. I liked it.
That line really jarred and I edited it immediately.
Look I am smiling but I still want to go on the naughty list...if Elsie can come with me.
Come on Bill, make my day.
I'm so glad that you noticed the rhythm. It was meant to be a song.
When one goes on such a camp it's first of all the bushveld. There is nothing like it.
Secondly, there is so much love and joy locked up inside of all of us just wanting to radiate out all over the world. All you need to have is an "awareness" of this life force.
Thank you for your wishes. I'll smile. And I'll give you all reason to smile. It's what I do. my way.
How can I read your articles and not smile?
Yeaaah...the camp was great. The animal sounds at night made my day. Did I say that right. Should I rephrase that?
You read my poem in the spirit that it was intended.
You'll see lots of my brand of writing. As much as there are cups of Arabica for me.
It takes about two cups per story.
So expect quite a bit. And please remember thay your comments will always be a delight.
Thank you Barbary. Of course you understood it. You know the power of words so well.
Aha savoir faire??? Now that's a really inspiring comment. Does it come from having traveled around a lot?
Well it may be true ....because I have traveled widely. God was kind to me. Any words that I may have, come from what I've seen.
Hope to see you around.
I read what you wrote over and over again. The interweaving of spirituality and sensuality. That is so true. That's precisely so. Isn't that the magic elixir?
Thank you for this idea. It's beautiful.
I hear your applause Marianne. I see your widest smile.
Yes..I do love God with a burning passion. All I do is a tribute to Him.
Thank you for your wishes. I return them with love.
That's your first poem posted on my thread and I treasure it. Thank you.
Hmmm. Are you saying that my poem has been accepted? Yes??? If yes, then thank you for the honour and yet another treasure.
Ah Sheila...a kiss from a friend...now doesn't that make writing poetry so rewarding. Oh boy.
Hahaha I went to your Gristmas. Thanks for an ear-to-ear smile. You're a honey.
Your comments on my poem tell me that you fully understood my poem. Your praise is an inspiration to me.
Dear friend I'm so sure of your love. I know that it's always there for me as mine is there for you.
This was just light hearted fun poem. I just this idea of a wayward flirtatious young man saying to himself that he would like to taste what he so readily hands out.
It's just a challenge that I saw and it tickled me pink to write it. I'll write to you dear. Thank you for caring.
I'll smile for you for that one night was indeed me. :)
Fantastic, revealing poem Fred.
rythm and flow is fabulous and its a enjoyable read ..
how beautifully you have portrayed a person who gives world all his love and warmth , kisses and embrace ....your barrel of love can never be dry ...because what goes around comes back around ....if every person you touch with your love and smiles will send back an ounce ...you will have barrels full of love and smiles ...
I hope you get my share ...:-)
The rhythm and flow are light indeed but it seems to be laced with a lot of yearning and a bit of sadness.
As Amarpreet said above, however, you've nothing to worry about, you kind man! What goes around comes back around indeed and I doubt that anyone who knows you and knows your heart can't but smile at you!
Wonderful!
M ;-)
Here are many wishes and many more smiles to refurbish your stock of joy and friends!!
Beautifully expressed desire for friends to come back and join you in celebrating a sharing of life!
Sounds like the retreat was a worthwhile time away!
PS. You mentioned having a brontosaurus that could mow my lawn? Please send him over! He doesn't need to arrive this week as my lawn is under 8 inches of snow. Not sure how he would handle the snow. Please feel free to come for a visit along with him.
Hello Amanda. Wow...so it was you??? That makes your smile especially rewarding.
La de da...he walks down the road singing merrily.
PS You dance divinely. Let's do it again.hy don't we?
Hi John. Yes I'm back thank you. Eloquent? That's the first time anyoe's said that about me. Gracios.
Those words of yours have the wisdom of the ages. Every person that you touch with your love and smiles will send back an ounce. That's such a beautiful thought that everyone should know it and use it in their every day lives.
You enriched my day. Thank you for that and thank you for your share. That enriched my day even more...*smile*
I feel the you've summed up my whole nature in our comment. Wow. Thakes good writing and deep insight. Thank you.
I do have this endless yearning but don't know exactly what for. I think that it's this yearning that makes me write. Nice talking to you.
I'm smling from ear to ear. Just the thought of dancing the tango on the moon??!!
I receive those pounds of love with great delight. You are a wonderful person and I'm glad that I know you.
Know article of mine would be complete it there's no comment from you.
I write with a passion because something burns within inside me. Do you think that it's the spicy food that I love. :-( *poor joke*
I'm blessed Mariana. People are very kind to me and I bask in their warmth. Salud dear.
The retreat was great and in away changed my life...my life's attitude anyway.
Bronti is not much good in snow. Let's wait a while. I'll come with him just to make sure that he's not lonely. Big feet big heart ,you know.
He loves kds but unfortunately suffers fron halitosis. These one time swamp creatures just have this problem
Here is a pound of smiles for you...
