Group Loyalty Test

This is a test, this is only a test...

 

I am not going to send this specifically to ANY of the groups I am a member of.  I want to see if I get more/less/or about the same number of comments as I normally would when I send it out to LOTS of groups. 

 

Please just say high, or something interesting that will be fun for me to read so I can see if posting to groups really gets my articles that much more exposure!

Interesting experiment you have going here... I have always wondered the same thing, especially since certain posts may be intended only for specific groups yet they still appear in your profile... of course, either way they are public, so I guess for the most part, it all comes down to more or less recognition...
I read the latest posts. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to read most of them.

Michael,

I have found that posting to 'post everything' groups really doesn't increase the exposure or readership of your content...except for some groups where the group owner may be more likely to see your work.

The best solution (in my opinion) is to build up a regular readership base, connections, and publish to groups with a smaller topical focus (if your content relates to the premise of the group).

it looks like it makes little differance! I posted three articles last night, this one...one saying I was board at work and one asking for medical advice on endometriosis. This one and the I'm board one got 16 comments. The medical one got 13. It seems like it is more the content (which is a good thing I think!) than which groups you publish to!

Well you needed something new for us to comment on anyway to continue returning comments! I get an email whenever a connection posts anything new and after returning comments I receive that's next priority, and I also receive an email from my groups when new things are posted but the majority of the time it will be a duplicate that I recieved notice of as a connect. So very often as I do get overwhelmed those are deleted without looking since I just can't handle all most of the time!

I get emails whenever my friends post something new- that's what I respond to....although many times I can't make it around to all of the new stuff.

Most of the time, I just see what my connections have posted in the My Gather section. I typically delete emails that contain links to specific articles because it is kind annoying.

hi there Michael - I sometimes wonder the same thing...but I don't think it matters unless the groups promote the works. I try to feature someone's articles about every two weeks. I need to go and do that now with two of my groups. I try to comment back to folks who comment on my stuff - I'm way behind and I do appreciate your comments - thanks very much. I'll try to make up for it when I get back to a faster computer - as it is, I have to wait for each picture to download! Salud.

I usually go by what my connections post through the email notifications. I don't usually go by groups. But I do try to comment on everyone that comments on my articles and images.

I personally never go to any groups unless there is some "hook" in an article I happen to see either on my own home page or in the list of articles. I really don't have time for "groups", too, as a rule.

By the way, thanks for all the comments on my photos! I fully intend to return the favor very soon, but I'm having "issues" with my wireless server at home, so things are loading VERY slowly today. I may get to a few today. But tomorrow should be a very slow day at work, though, and that connection is rather zippy on a bad day. I'll definitely do some parusing then!!!

I don't really use the groups to find new messages anymore. My connections are posting enough content that they keep me busy without my having to delve into the groups, which I guess is a shame for the new people with whom I have yet to connect. But if they comment on my content, I usually send out a connection request as a thank-you. :)

Hello. Not a connection of yours but can't say as I blame you trying to see who stops by and all. I try to run through all of my connections at least once a week but if I am busy it has to be every two weeks. I make up for the lack of attention though. Or should I say I try to make up for it.lol

i think you are right...posting to groups makes little difference...it is about the quality of your contributions...your habits of visiting connections...and the habits of your connections...like carmel...she comes by often.
