Trying to comment on images

but I found a lot of porn. Now, I'm not a flagger, but I'll tell you I flagged one tonight. Some dude from Indonesia and another guy, took over and I"m talking porn. I hate to delete things and flag so I wrote Gather support. It's not my job to flag things but the hard core nature of some of these is ridiculous. I am not going to go to each porn image and flag it, and I am a big girl who doesn't want to prevent all images containing nudity, but there is a difference between nudity as art and porn. What are your thoughts?

That's truly sad. I hoped this could have been prevented, but hopefully Gather will do something about this. I have not run across any yet (thank God! I was just about to invite my daughter here).

I don't mind artistic nudity, but a lot of that is kind of raunchy and really doesn't belong here.

Carol,

The publishing of pornographic images and videos surfaces every now and then, and you have every right to report it, as it violates Gather Terms of Service. However, one person's porn is another's art, so sometimes the line between the two can be a bit blurry.

Occasionally I have had to look at all the content published by a specific member to determine the nature of one specific image, before reporting (flagging) it.

I don't mind nudity either, but porn is porn is porn. If I want to see porn I will go to a porn site and not gather. LOL

Artistic, yes, uotright porn, no.......i thought you had to have special settings for that kind of viewing ??? have only run across one pic that was downright BAD,,,,did not comment,just left......

I agree - a large difference between nudity and porn. Of course, there is a "gray" area where some will argue it's art, some will argue it's porn. But certainly if you'll only find it in the "special" 18 and above section of your video store, it should NOT be on Gather!

Artistic nudity is fine, posting porn here is just a way of some idiot trying to get a rise out of people. It's a shame they have nothing better to do.
When they started to emphasize profiles I wrote an article that I knew this was coming. It was inevitable. I never did have my profile filled out, but now I don't even have my state listed.

This guy is porn. He didn't flag it, so I flagged one but didn't want to continue to view his garbage so I wrote to support. Hopefully, they'll delete him and send him back to Indonesia.

I think most people can distinguish between an artistic pose and porn. The beauty of the human body is not a sexual issue or pose. I have seen plenty of artistic photos that are not porn. If it looks like it belongs in Hustler, leave it there, or on a porn site where it belongs, so those who want to can go to it. Leave the rest of us places to go that doesn't have that garbage.

There is definitely a line between nudity as art and hardcore porn. I would have definitely let the guy know what I thought about him, I wouldn't cre what reprocussions I might have gotten. I don't take kindly to stupid crap.

I personally do not watch porn & don't like to see it but others are free to do so if they choose. Kiddie porn is another matter though! Anyone who participates in that belongs in the deepest pits of Hell!

100% agreed - I'm not against nudity as an artist or even a little mild porn from time, but not on the sites where it's not welcome...I'm with everyone else; it has to at least be marked if it's adult themed and banned by gather if it's porn (per their rules).

I agree. Some I have encountered have really made me cringe and there is no adult warnings on them. Although I have only encountered one where the woman looked naked to me in her icon (I passed over to quickly to ascertain) most have been overly suggestive rather than pornographic, it has made me very reluctant to view images by anyone other than those connections I am totally comfortable with.

it's unfortunate people are posting porn.... some nudity is meant as art, but porn is not the same thing as art at all!

I agree with you, Carol. Art is one thing, but that stuff is not, in my opinion, art. For those who disagree, fine, just flag it appropriately so that those of us who do not value it as art can give it a pass.
But please, spare the poor duckie!

Let's save the duck. Well, we are adults, and can choose to go somewhere else, but that hardcore stuff does not belong here. If they can put up here, they can go somewhere else, where it may be appreciated. We are fortunate we have so many real artists here, writers, crafters, musicians, poets, and I also hate to think that what was described above is someones idea of art for this crowd. Gather probably won't let that continue. Least I hope not. I myself am gonna ignore it, like the gals that laugh at flashers, they are a sad lot. Sorry you had to deal with that. Ellen B

Since Gather is not a porn web site. There shouldn't be hard core nudity on this site. If you use it for art or something soft core as a pic in a related article it is fine, but a pic like the one described doesn't belong on this web site if you ask me.
