Birds, Birds and more Birds.

Filling up the feeders in the winter is a pain, but is truly worth it. The birds were having a Christmas party out there this morning. The house finches with their red looking vibrant.

I assume this one is a Goldfinch, but I am not sure.

I don't know what this little bird is, it looks like it could be related to the Chickadee. I am going to rely on Roy, Angela, Sue, or Diane to graciously assist me with the name of this one.

While outside taking pictures of the birds, the fox was crossing the frozen lake, so a bonus for me.

That fox picture is awesome! I love the beautiful birds too! I just put out more bird food for my birds the day before yesterday - I hope they enjoy~

Yes, the second one is a goldfinch. But I need to do some research on the third one, as I've not seen that one before.

Great shots. The birds have been very busy at my feeder too. I don't have the patience to wait by the feeder to get any good shots of them.

Wow, great photos. I wish my camera would get the faces as well as you do in your photos. That fox photo is priceless. How lucky you were to be out there when he decided to go by. I always enjoy your photos so much. There is something that you capture that ordinary photos don't always get.

Yup, the little yellow one is a female Goldfinch, and the last bird is a Red-Breasted Nuthatch. Our Goldfinches left long ago, but the Red-Breasted Nuthatch is a winter visitor here. We have White-Breasted Nuthatches here year round, and I'm starting to think I'm gonna need to put out a suet feeder to finally get a decent shot of these little'uns. And once again a stunning shot of the fox!

what beautiful photos, Sue has them all right. the house finch is a male only males have the color and the color can range from a yellow to a dark purple depending on what the bird is feeding on which I though was a neat fact i leaned last year when i was trying to find out what they were

Both your Chicadee and your Finches look different than ours out here in Montana. We love the birdies as if they were our kids, and of course they love the feeder, LOL. These are awesome photos!!!!

Wow great photos. Thanks for sharing. I do think that I am going to put up a bird bath this summer. Poor birds must really suffer out there in the heat. Not sure that I can photograph them as well as you but at least I would have a chance.

Stunning!

The fox really made me smile. When we were looking for a place to live, it was hectic, there weren't that many places and we were already staying in a hotel. The crunch was on. When we drove up to look at our current home, a red fox ran right thought the yard. I love animals, so I took it as a good sign. Over a year later, we are still here and very happy. I haven't seen the fox again, but a lot of other animals:)

I cannot feed the birds here, as the place is surrounded by cats. They sleep under my house at night, and one night there were over six. I just do not have the heart to send them out in the winter. There is no shelter here, they will kill them. SO the live under there. It is too cold out there. They have obviously been "dumped" by tourists. So sad, but I watch birds at a friends farm. They have tame raccoons, coons, eagles, hawks, wild boar, (dangerous if you are not careful) the birds, and many deer. Your pictures are beautifull. The power in those wings. Wonderful. and the fox too. Ellen B

What strength camera do you have to have to get the bird faces as you do? These are nice photos. I want to do this. Of course, we probably won't have a fox stroll through our yard. Still, there are plenty of birds. And dogs. And cats.

I used to work in the summer and fall and by default had to sit out the winters. I watched a lot of birds, even though Colorado doesn't have that much variety. I've featuerd this in the Colorado group.
