I'm sure we've all had the experience of picking up a paper and seeing a headline that we hoped we wouldn't have to read for awhile. I had that same experience last Saturday as I picked up the Pioneer Press to find out that Minnesota author Carol Bly had passed away from a battle with ovarian cancer. Minnesota Public Radio also has an obituary here.
I exclaimed "Oh no!" and was shocked and saddened that she had died. I must admit, I have not read every word she ever published. I recall being struck by her poetry and was well aware of her former marriage to author and Men's Movement guru Robert Bly. Carol was on the "to read" list that I have. Since her passing I feel that I should bump her up the list. She's written much and it's hard to know where to start. If you are familiar with Carol Bly and her work, where would you start? What titles have struck you? If there was only one thing that she wrote that you would suggest that I read, what would it be?

I had met Carol at various times over the years, I am not far from her Sturgeon Lake cabin and we have people in common, but it was only recently at a party that I was to appreciate her wry sense of humor. Gone too soon.
