The misty day was cool, however it did not deter an early morning ride on a 1935-40 (actual year unknown) restored fire truck. Pulling hoods over our heads we headed out with children on the bed of the truck and a few of us "adults" standing on the rear step. It was impossible to take photos AND hold onto the truck as we traveled a few blocks around town. The fire truck's alarm clanged as we journeyed looking for a fire to extinguish.

After the three children (Jackson, Jenna, and Jaden) put in their duty of firefighting, they were famished. As it turned out, local citizens had an array of foods to choose from. The children made a choice and quickly emptied their plates.

We had just enough time to stop by the house, load up the vehicles with various foods and gifts, before setting off on the next part of our activities for the day. We traveled to Georgia in order to enjoy a gathering for my mother's side of the family. Although the children became quickly bored with "family photos" being made, we were able to get a few good shots. Facial expressions speak volumes.

After enjoying "catching up" with others, dancing, and music, we soon settled down to enjoy good food. The spread was immense consisting of various food items including ham, turkey, beans, black-eye peas, greens, sweet potato casserole, fried rice, gravy, and dressing. The dessert table was piled with cakes, pies, and other sweets.

All too soon it was time to say goodbye to loved ones and return home. Although exhausting, I was thankful to have spent a day with family and have memories made.
