What a blatant, self-righteous canard.
Passing additional funding to keep the troops in an illegal occupation of a sovereign country that was illegally and deceitfully invaded for the purpose of economic imperialism is anything BUT support.
Sending our troops into harms way under false pretenses was in itself an act tantamount to treason, and only did grievous dishonor to our troops (as well as needlessly risking their lives). To have this deployment directed by a cohort of cowards who never served their country - and went to extremes to AVOID serving their country - only compounded the dishonor. To continue that deployment under the banner of 'support' simply furthers that dishonor.
The ONLY way to truly honor the troops would be to withdraw them from harms way, and redeploy them responsibly, for honorable purposes, if there be any such to military means. There is no honor to imperialism; there be no patriotism in an unncecessary, illegal invasion and occupation.

A concise and truthful assessment.
Well done, Peter.
When I was in DC recently, I asked one of Rahm Emmanuel's underlings this very question of legality. Even though he was pissed off about my question, he told me that HJR 114 is the law of the land and until it is rescinded, we Democrats are "out of the loop". HJR 114 gives Mr. Bush all the legal backing he needs to continuously ask for more funds - which for some unusual reason, we keep giving him. Your argument of legality falls short.
