Since seeing the movie "Solaris," I've made a project of reading the works of Stanslaw Lem. Each one so far is of quite different character -- he's really a master of whatever style he wants to use.

I read a lot, I mean a lot. Always have. Mostly feminist fiction but a also a lot of thrillers and mysteries. I just eat books.

Don't buy them, I'd have to be a millionaire. I borrow them from the library.

I'm a BOOKAHOLIC to the MAX. I always ask for book store gift cards or books for Christmas and rarely do I get any so I always have to go buy my own. Lately my daughter has taken up reading as an escape and so she has asked for books for the first time so that's a nice change of pace where she is concerned. Single-motherhood is getting to her so she's reading more. Me BOOKS are my friends, since I don't have but 2 in real life, they take the place of all the friends I wished I had, so my house is always full of bookshelves and books of all kinds just like I dream my friends would be like and I end up feeling very safe and sacure in knowing I'm surrounded by Friends.

What would I like to see in the book world?? Cheaper prices! I have become a huge fan of paperbackswap just so I don't go broke with my hobby. For Xmas, I usually ask for new releases in hardcovers that I would never splurge on myself. My 2 toddlers LOVE books already and it is so frustrating to me that family doesn't consider books when it comes to presents for them. Everyone wants to buy the latest and greatest toy, not realizing that my kids will be bored with it in 2 weeks but will revisit the same book over and over for months.

i read true stories of outdoor adventures. don't like non-fiction much. reading these stories (like about how a group of friends kayaked down a river in some unknown wilderness) has given me a lot of extra motivation to get outside more, even if in a much milder context. i've also learned a little bit about outdoor skills & science that way. i learned from one book that i probably don't want to visit africa or china or most mediterranean cities. i especially enjoy the affirmation of my reverence for nature that i see from the writers.

Wow, this is a great conversation we have going. I am so glad to hear the readers speak up! Yes, even going to the library matters. A book is like knowledge being held in our hands. I love books that teach me new things. You are never too old to learn!

i read all the time. i buy books for loved ones, more than any other present! it helps that half our family is librarians. :)

I'm a voracious reader - but like above, I have no choice but to go to the library. Books are just too expensive! So, I'd like to see 2 things: 1: cheaper book prices, or just cheaper e-books (WHY are they the same price as hardcovers?!?) and 2: better stocked libraries! Our libraries are suffering mightily. Donate all your old books to libraries! If they already have copies, then they'll get the revenue from book sales. They desperately need the stock and money.
