Black clouds swirl and whirl around until they
hover
and darken
the sunlight
The leaves rest-
less-
ly flutter
in an airless breeze that
whistles slightly in the window screen
and I can no longer
. . . breathe.
Someone has sucked
up
all the air
And all at once, the steady murmur of rain
It dances savagely
upon the Summer pavement
Thunder crashes
overhead, lightning
flashes fiercely
And all along the murmur of warm rain
And then it slows
and
stops
The thunder rolls away easily
Wet golden rays of sunlight
wash away the clouds
Drops
drip
from
leaves
The violent temper of the storm is relieved
and I can breathe again
