how in the heck could that have been your fault!! It's not like you left your purse sitting on top of your car!! The guy hit you in the stomach then got in your car and took your purse....what in the heck!!

That's ridiculous!! How can people put up nasty stuff about that? You have been on my mind since I read your article. It sure made me look twice at the people around me. I think posting this could save someone else. Heck, I'd repost if I were you. You can always approve comments first. Or, just delete them. I do it when necessary. Some people are just plain nasty, don't pay attention to them. Your friends in cyberspace will stand behind you, Dena.

I don't know how to get it back, but I strongly disagree that in daytime pumping gas is asking to be robbed, and I don't think you caused it. The lesson learned here is to maybe put your purse in the trunk, but I'd have never thought of that unless knowing to expect someone to rob me at the gas station in broad day light, so to me I can't see how this is your fault, and i am sorry people got hateful to you because you were victimized, but society does do that -- blame the victim. It would have been more in keeping with the season to keep hateful remarks to themselves. There is no doubt in my mind you will never forget this incident and will never have your purse hanging on your arm again while pumping gas. And I'm glad you are okay. This was a traumatic event and it could have hurt you or the baby. This is no time to be cruel to you and I am sorry some felt the need to do so.

Dena, Because of your story being posted I told my husband about it and when we went shopping this weekend I told him and mentioned he ought to not carry more money than he thought we needed, and I did the same. We were just getting a few items and had an approximate cost in mind, so both of us cleaned out any extra cash just to be on the safe side. I might not have thought about it had it not been for your article. We didn't get robbed, but I knew if we did, a robber wouldn't get anything but the smallest amount. So thank you for posting that article.

That was a good idea about going to your comment section - I hope it works for you. This time of the year is really dangeous for property crimes. What a shame that you were a victim! One gal at my office told me that she always takes her keys and locks her car while pumping gas - then if someone suspicious approaches her, she can run into the gas station and get help. I'm going to really start doing that now.

Being robbed is not your fault. Please do not sweat the "small stuff" on here !

I got broken into once, (had left a window open because it was hot in the house) . Was that my fault?? If morons are gonna rob you, they'll rob you. It was'nt your fault.

I am so to hear that you were robbed Dena, and I am sorry that you got some nasty comments and emails as well. You are a smart woman Dena, and I know you don't think you caused the robbery, so just shake your head at the nasty comments etc. I am so glad you didn't get hurt, and that your baby didn't get hurt.

I don't understand how anyone could say that was your fault! Some people are just nasty. I'm sorry that people feel the need to pick on you and blame you for stuff that obviously isn't your fault.

Insane! Dena, we don't ask to be robbed. We are in the wrong place at the right time. And, in some ways, you were in the right place. I'm not saying you were meant to be robbed, though it sounds that way.

Somebody needed that money and you were there. Not that they knew how much they would get, but at the holidays they will take bigger chances.

Yeah I am so hoping the money went to feed a family .. or buy gifts for kids and someone isn't using it to feed an addiction or shooting it up their arm. My friend told me I was nuts because I said I hope it is going to be used on some thing meaningful at least .. even more so since I worked for it!

I keep telling myself it is going to feed people or gifts for kids .. guess thats the only way I can rationalize it!
