Reflections with my coffee

It's been a good long while since I have been awake this early. A year ago it was fairly routine. I rose, sipped coffee, and headed out the door with mug in hand to face the day in ICU.

Today, I have no good reason for being awake at this hour. There was a dream. More than one. I recall only the last, and that one only dimly. It was a conversation with my mother,  now long deceased. Perhaps she was telling me how to better deal with the curves this life throws us. It seems to me she handled them far more gracefully than I do.

Wow, I feel the same way sometimes, Deb. I always think dreams are important, and try to remember them, but like yours, most are dim. When I do remember vivdly, I write them down and read them again later, hoping for some kind of revelation. I don't do coffee, but I can relate to the meaning of that. Hang in there, it will be okay in the end, if it's not okay yet, then it's not the end.

i believe that when we have a dream of someone we loved who has passed on it is their way of communicating with us. I love when I have dreams of the women in my life who meant the most to me, it feels like a visit from them which I cherish. Lucky you to have dreamed of your mother.

I love getting up very early, I never know what the day has to bring. When I get up early, I can count on at least two or three hours to meditate,create, and generally just be before the world starts intruding

Dreams are our way of dealing with life's "curves." We all have them. I just wish I could remember my mother's voice as you have remembered yours. I do remember her as a strong and wise woman.

THANK-YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS. IT TOOK ME A LONG TIME AFTER MY MOTHERS DEATH BEFORE I HAD A DREAM ABOUT HER THAT WAS REASSURING. I DO BELIEVE SHE IS STILL WITH ME AND YOURS IS WITH YOU. MERRY CHRISTMAS.
I, too, believe dreaming of someone who has passed is their way of reaching out to us. She's trying to tell you something, and an early morning filled with coffee and writing may be just the way to ferret it out.

My Mom has had many curves thrown at her...the loss of two sons and a husband. She's alway leaned on God to get her through, me too...

I was up in the middle of the night so I slept in this A.M. and I am just getting started. I have to go make my coffee now. At this time of the year, I think we reflect on our loved ones more deeply than we do any other time of the year. I cried for my father this past Sunday and I haven't done that in years.

I used to dream all the time and remember most of them in detail. But in the past several years, I haven't been able to recall a single dream except one. My mother passed away this past February. We were close and although her death was expected, it's been hitting me a bit harder as the months go by (especially now).

Last spring, I dreamt that someone had delivered a present to me from her. It was a set of 4-5 wooden spoons inside a small wooden barrel-like container and the whole thing was wrapped in pink cellophane and a pink bow.

I have no idea what it means other than I know it was an unspoken message from her. We never stop being "mom" even in death. Anyway, it felt really great. It was so vivid I know I'll never forget it.

I don't like getting up early, but once I'm awake I think it's a beautiful time of day. When you're the only one awake and around in the house, there's a certain peace to it.

It sounds like a beautiful dream. I too believe that when you dream of someone you love that has passed on they are trying to give you a message.

Deb - I have no doubt that your mom showed up in your dreams as a way of lending her support. This is all so difficult right now and I know that if she was still here, she would be encouraging you and lending an ear when you needed to just vent. Truth is, all a person can do is to keep going, and hold on to faith - it is all good.

A very important moment, and a comforting one.
You and I must be related, I go through these same modes at times and I often have the same dreams with deceased relatives.

Nice to finally get back to your writings, I love viewing your images and hearing what you have to say.

Debbie, I'm with all those above who think and feel you being gracious and kind despite all the stress, pain, and difficulty you're going through and the negative feelings, such as anger and fear, you experience. These feelings are more intense in someone like you because you are kind and gracious and it hurts you that you can't be more so because you know it's your nature to be so.

I was thinking a lot about you today because I had to take a break from the stressful pace I've been keeping. I sat down to read the current issue of SHIFT, the journal of the Institute of Noetic Sciences. I kept running across information that made me think, "Debbie would be interested in this."

Your mother is talking to you - I don't understand why people don't realize that - I guess it's the way society has made us think that when you're dead you're dead - not so - the spirit keeps on trucking. She is probably telling you some good advice. You may have the same dream a couple of times until you get the message...Take care my friend. I hope things are going well for you. One thing I know about you is that you like to do your best .... at whatever you do. So I can understand your frustration at feeling hindered.
It sounds trite but I know God has a plan. We are seldom privy to the Greater Plan. We have to be ready to do God's will when we are asked. From my life's experience with you, I know you are always ready for that.

My time schedule has been turned upside down as well. Getting up at 5 and drinking my coffee with the house quiet and getting some time just to get myself together was a very important part of my day. I don't work really anymore and sleep through "the coffee time" watching the sun come up and preparing for the day. I feel what is missed along with you.

I don't dream much of loved ones that have passed on. Instead I have the type of strange dreams that pull together people from different aspects of life into strange places and situations that would never happen in real life. It would be more comforting to dream of loved ones lost though.

The only "prophetic" dream I've had was several weeks ago when I dreamed that my Dad was walking up the stairs in my house with a cane.

This is really significant because he had a friek accident on October 24th, he broke his neck & back and sustained a spinal cord injury. He is slowly regaining function in his hands but his legs are still mostly useless.
