When HE sits at the computer in covert operations for four hours (I thought he was buying those silly Auburn toy soldiers again) to feed YOUR inner nerd.

He bought me THIS

Brand New Garmin Etrex portable GPS Receiver

He fought for it for nearly four hours tonight on eBay.

AND he got it for $80!!!!!!

I love it when he feeds my inner nerd. It makes me all squishy inside. LOL

And no, he didn't wait until Christmas to give it to me. He's kind of a sucker that way.

Usually mine waits until the last minute too.

I had bid on a used one (and lost) because I didn't want to spend a forture for a GPS, and he found this one. I had NO idea he was even bidding.

Sweet! Have you already checked out geocaching.com to plan some cache hunts with it? Did he get the PC cabels for it? If he did, it will save you from manually entering waypoints. Congrats on your new GPS!

Marianne, I joined geocaching.com about two weeks ago, thanks to you mentioning it all the time. :)

I've already found a few near me that were easy enough to find without the coordinates. It helped that I was raised in this area. :)

He didn't get the cables for it, but that's OK. I can get those later if I have to. I'm just tickled that he actually got it for me.

This weekend, as a matter of fact, my mother, step-dad and I are going geocaching together. HE already has a GPS, so when I told him about geocaching, I watched as his nerdy little eyes glazed over. LOL

Mother was just shaking her head. She has NO idea what she's getting in for. I'm planning a few night caches and several day caches in our area.

Tina, it sounds like the bug has bitten. It's a VERY addictive hobby. I've found some great caches in Alabama over the years... Desoto Falls area, Little River Canyon area, Talledega National Forest and Oak Mtn State Park to name a few. I see many a statewide roadtrip in your future!
