Did you read James Patterson's letter to his son in Parade magazine in the Sunday's paper? He tells his son he wants him to become a "passionate reader for life" and goes on to explain why. He also talks about how when he writes he rode in that forest and he was the people in that story. He believes getting his son to read is his responsibility, all parents, grandparents and teachers, too. Every Christmas he'll give his son at least one book. And in the summers, he'll give him books that he'll never forget. That's his gift to his son. I'm saying this poorly, but if you haven't read the article, do. That's what it's all about.
Our local retired teachers association raises money for books for the younger children in our schools every year. We usually buy them from one of the school's book fairs, which is cheaper for us and also helps the school. What better gift could we give?
Have a wonderful week.
Happy writing and reading.
