Photo Essay: My Grandpa's 73rd Birthday

My grandpa turned 73 on December 10th and we had a little party for him at our house on December 9th. I was going to make a cake but decided on cupcakes because I had been doing a little Christmas baking and already had the cupcakes made. When my grandma found out she basically said Hmph! You can't put Happy Birthday on a cupcake. So of course I had to show her that I could and I wrote Happy Birthday out on several cupcakes (but yes, I could have written Happy Birthday very small on one cupcake if I had to Grandma lol).

It's hard to really know what to get my grandpa but he seemed to really like his gfit. We got him several Westerns and Snickers (his favorite candy).

He was tickled when he saw that there were Snickers in the box too.

 The Happy Birthday Cupcakes:

I think they turned out pretty good. I put one cupcake in the middle that said John (his name) with 10 candles (73 candles just wouldn't fit).

Then he blew them out but my camera didn't work quick enough and I missed the shot. :(

My youngest son really enjoyed the cupcakes:

At the end of the party, my youngest son thought it would be good entertainment for us all to lock himself in his own jail.

All in all the party went good. My grandpa hadn't been feeling good and his hands were super shaky.  :(  When I invited them over my Grandma said "Oh you remembered!" and of course I thought to myself Well duh, of course I remembered. I never forget birthdays of my immediate family! But you know what happened? My uncle forget his birthday!!  He remembered the day after his birthday. So I guess if she says that to me next year I won't be surprised about it. 

So that's my little photo essay of that day. Yesterday I was super sick and today I still feel icky so basically all I feel good enough to do is either lay on the couch or sit still at the computer.  It's no fair, I have so much to do this week.
