"Kill the lawyers first" I couldnt resist this.
I agree with you about Lincoln, but then I also understand that history has been generally kind to him. He wasn't considered great by a lot of people in his time.
So while I don't deny greed outweighs honesty for many people (and companies), I am not so cynical as to not give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I think that Lincoln did this - believe that everyone is basically good and honest, at least until they prove him wrong.
