How far into your pregnancy did you work?

I have one more day of work left until my maternity leave begins. I am currently 35 weeks pregnant and about to be 36 weeks. I decided to stop working a month early because it is getting harder to be on my feet and move comfortably at this point. My doctor had no problem letting me go out a month early....so  one more day and i am done until after I have this baby! It has been a lot harder working then I thought it would be. Most days getting out of bed is a challenge in itself, let alone working all day! How many other women out there found this as tough as I have? How long before your due date did you stop working?

Congratulations on your pregnancy Paula.

With my first son, I was in college, and I worked part time. I stopped the part time work about a month before, and I was in class the day I gave birth, and then I had two weeks off doing classwork from home.

With my second son, I worked as a handicap aide for my mother, who was completely paralyzed and used a ventilator. I had to stop working at about four months, as I was having lots of pain due to the lifting. After the birth I had one year of paid maternity leave.....but this was in Denmark. I wish the American women had this priviledge.

through the 7th month w/ my 1st, wasn't working w/ my 2nd, and through the 4th month w/ my 3rd. The pregnancies where I was working I stopped b/c we moved.

I went out at 36 weeks also with both my pregnancies. Mainly, because I worked an hour away from where I live and my doctor didn't want to take any chances with me being away from home. I am honestly glad that I did go out early. I had both my babies at 39 weeks to the date and I really enjoyed those last 3 weeks being able to rest and not have to go to work.

I worked up until I was almost 40 weeks along. I went to work the last day I was scheduled to be there before my son was born. It was Saturday. My son was born on Wednesday. I was actually scheduled to go to work Wednesday, too, because we were short handed, but my boss knew that the baby was coming any day, she just wanted me to work right up until he was born!

congratulations. I don't have any children. I knew a woman who went fulll term and was at work when her water broke.

With my first child, I had a complication that had my doctor keep me home the last four months. With my son four years ago, I actually was at work the day he was born.

With my first baby, I quit work one week before my due date.

I worked on Thursday night, came home and slept. Woke up at 2pm Friday and didn't feel right. Admitted to the hospital at 8pm and had my son at 6:43am on Sat.!:) That will be 22 yrs ago next month! Good luck, I hope all goes well for you and your little one.

I stopped working a week before my due date. Mainly because I worked in a manufacturing environment and it was starting to get dangerous walking around.

I was at work the day my water broke Luckily I was at home when it happened, but the funny thing was that I had just had a meeting with my boss to set the start date for my maternity leave the next week. Oops! Jack was 2 weeks early.

With my first pregnancy I immediately stopped working because I worked at a greenhouse and the chemicals there cause stillbirth so I decided not to risk it. With my other two I didn't work at all. I've been a stay at home mom for a long time now. My youngest goes to school next year and then I'll hopefull be able to go back to work.

With both children, I worked up until I went into labor. Actually, I was in labor when I went to work on Monday morning when I had my son - and like a fool, I kept working! I wouldn't recommend this though! :-D

I planned on working up until they day. I was induced the day before my due date, and had gone into work that morning. It was definatly hard to stay at work and if i would have had the choice, i probably would have take off early instead of work up until the day.

I know how you feel. I wouldn't advise working too far in pregnancy- as lately, I think I may be overworking myself and not knowing my limits? It may not feel heavy just to lift a small box, but believe me, it makes a big difference. I've already went into pre-term labor already. I'd suggest taking it easy from here on ... you're a week ahead of me.. Congratulations! I'm due Jan 27!

I worked until the end ;o) on each kid.

My water broke with my boy around 6:30 AM (an hour before I normally got up for work...I was going to work that day...I worked in a warehouse & thank goodness I wasn't at work...I worked with a bunch of guys! haha)

My water broke with my daughter around 5:30 AM on a Saturday & I had quit that Friday because my scheduled c-section for my girl was that Monday.

With my first I worked until I was 30 weeks along then the Docs ordered me home.

With my first I worked as a waitress until 3 days before.

I worked until two weeks before my due date. I was in nursing, so I was at the hospital anyway if anything happened. I was on my feet a lot. I was lucky because I worked in Medical Imaging and I'd sneak down and Ultrasound myself whenever I wanted.
