Fred Thompson stands up against watered down debates

Very interesting. Not only did some of the other candidates applaud him for his forthright attitude but the audience did also when he stood his ground and refused to answer. Good for him.

One more crazy religio-kook added to the stage...that was sort of fun, I guess. Keyes never fails to convine just how insane he is, the moment he opens his mouth. I thought he was in danger of being hauled away in a straight jacket at one point. It really shows just how completely inept the entire field is, when you can have a loonie toon like that suddenly appear at a major debate. I expect we'll soon see Humpty Dumpty drug addict Limbaugh up there as well.

And, I also enjoyed seeing how the republicans suddenly agree that global warming is not only real, but that it is man-caused, AND that moving aggressively towards greener fuels will cause significant economic GROWTH!!! This was a MAJOR flippity floppity on the part of the cons, who for decades have steadfastly held that the earth was flat, and that any attempt to stray from that belief would destroy our economy.

I was really surprising to see this dramatic validation of long-held left thinking. Once again, the left was proven right, to the degree that the delusional wingnuts could no longer ignore. A stunning victory for the left and for the earth.

Fred's a neocon bore and a loser, btw. He's got as much chance of winning the nomination as Keyes. But, it's fun watching and hearing him go "Uh...um....uh...um....uh...uh...Raygun...um...fear...uh...tax cuts...um..."

Fred Thompson declined to give a simple Yes or No answer. That speaks volumes about his ability to lead. We already have that kind of leadership and it is getting us nowhere. I hope that people have filed the tactic in their mind and remember this when they go into the voting booth.

And another left-wing nitwit comment added to the conversation. At least Keyes has convictions and stands by them which is way more than can be said for John Wonder Womanly Edwards, Barack Saddam Obama or Hillary Rodless Clinton. Talk about a lineup of looney tune stooges! Shades of Howard Dean & John Kerry, real winners.

Of course if you are a gullible warming goron, with cult-like adherance to pseudo-science, than you are incapable of any legitimate dialogue not totally in tune with the hot air manifesto.

Oh and the new battle cry word "neocon" is at best a pitiful mischaracterization. The time has come to return to the principles of America's founding heritage, and address the nation's challenges through the core ideals of self-governance, free markets, and the rule of law. Fred Thompson is leading the way. Grow up and face it.

Declining to give a simple yes or no answer does in fact speak volumes about his ability to lead, in a good way - unless you'd vote for a trained seal over a true leader.

I watched the vid twice and read the article twice and still didn't see where Keyes came into it.

Although a compound sentence it was a simple question with a simple answer, yes or no. If F. Thompson can't answer a simple question how does he expect to lead a nation?

I don't see where Keyes came into this debate either.

What I got from the video was Thompson wanted to address the question with his answer as to his stance, but the stupid broad wouldn't give him the time to do that. It didn't seem to me that he was avoiding answering the question necessarily, but wanted to express how he felt about the topic. What is the point of giving an answer to a question and not being able to back it up with your opinions and or views??

Thompson, and Thompson alone, stood up to the silliness that characterized that supposedly serious-minded debate which asked for a grade-school show of hands for what is NOT a simple question with a simple yes or no answer.

I liked how Fred Thompson handle himself at the debate. At least he wasnt going to be used as a pawn, or let this very liberal woman, pull his strings to make him appear as her puppet.

As a former Democrat (30 years), now registered Independent, I'm amazed at the
half-ass attitudes and non-positions the Democrats are taking on illegal immigration.
While I support their positions on most issues (raising taxes on the rich, out of Iraq,
universal health coverage, etc), I can't figure out why they are clinging to such a dangerous (for them) stance on immigration.
The American public and Congress is heavily opposed to illegal immigration, and
for most people, it's a very important issue. many people regard it as an invasion of our country. With the remittances and welfare aspect, I'd say it's the biggest international burglary in world history, with us as the dumbell victims who are permitting it.
What does it take to get Democrats to WAKE UP on this ? 4 amnesty bills have been shot down, Elliot Spitzer, with all his bravado and bluster, fell on his face, and the DREAM Act died with the help of 8 Democratic Senators. Now we have strong anti-
illegal immigration bills surfacing with bipartisan support, and the Democrats think they're pandering to Hispanics ? Clue to Democrats - you might have the Black vote,
but Hispanics often vote Republican for their stronger (appearing anyway) family values. Lately, Hispanics have become more opposed to illegal immigration and amnesty, as they see THEIR jobs disappearing, wages declining, schools/hospitals
overcrowding, along with everyone else.

Fred Thompson is to the Left what kryptonite is to Clark Kent. The Sociocrats fear him, and rightly so. Unlike the rest of the field of GOP candidates with questionable conservative pedigrees, Thompson can close the breach between Republicans and conservatives. None of the far left-of-center Demos will stand a chance if that happens.
