I understand your frustration. Everyone thinks they know best. Just ignore the unsolicited advice or politely tell them to back off.

Yeah but they act on it like feed her when i know she is fulll!

Okay Sweetie, take a deep breath and listen... I know how frustrating it is and what a pain in the butt they are.... just take them all into one room together and tell them... I know that you all mean well, but, as you can see my daughter is happy, healthy, and clean. Which means I'm a great mom and I don't need to be told how or what or when to be a mother, I have the scars to prove that I am her mommy. You all had your own kids and please think before you speak. It is stressful on me and Chloe and I'd hate to have to cut our visits short because she is the most important thing in the world to me. This should let them know that you are in charge, know what you are doing and that if they want to see you and Chloe, they'd better shut up or you'll leave.... *Hugs* your other MOM

I have been there. Trying to make my oldest eat her food without whining, she was 5, and my Father in law got pissed, slammed his hand on the table and walked away. My daughter still ate her food. No way we were going to put up with his and her behavior too.

You do what you have too. the family thinks they know better but she is your baby. Enjoy her!

I know exactly what you mean! People always tell me I need to feed Elliott more, too. He's thin, and they just don't get it that all babies and toddlers AREN'T fat, and that's ok. When he's hungry, I feed him until he's full. He eats at least 4 times a day. Some days he will eat a whole adult size portion of food in one sitting, other days, he won't eat more than a couple of bites at a time. That's just being a kid.

Try not to let it get to you! Are you 'trapped' together because of of weather? As for how much to feed chloe, you are right and it is sad to say but most (62-64%) of childrenareover weight and it is said that this generation of kids may be the first to not out live their parents since the 1900's! Due to obesity and the other resulting diseases it brings on and in most cases can be totally preventable. Often times parents will use food as a reward or force children to eat 'everything on their plate' and it is simply the wrong way to teach your child proper nutrition. My son was what I thought, under weight and not eating enough, his doctor told me never to force him to eat, that no child had ever starved to death while having food available.

I am sorry that you have family issues, they do have god intentions... I hope..so grin and bear it, if you have to and say a kind good bye and g home if you can!! LOL

As far as I amconsidered you can 'rant' all you want and Iwill always try to listen. :P

Unless you want to cause in arrparable rig\ft with your family, no matter how hard it is, I would just not engage. It won't do anyone any good for you to confront them, especially since you are kinda stuck with them for the time being. Also, no matter what you say or do, there will ALWAYS be someone who thinks they know better than you do. What I have done with Owen is just smile, nod my head, say thanks, and do it all however I wanted to. Saved problems, saved my sanity. GOOD LUCK!

Breath deep and smile and say The doctor said not to make her eat to much.She Is the right weight for her height,Not all kids sleep in pjs,they like a shirt instead.Then smile again.Don't lose your temper it will hurt you more.Then pray for forgiveness for all of the things you thought that were not good.

People like to do that. It can be frustrating, but don't argue. Keep doing things your way, but don't get into it with them. After all, it is your business, your daughter, not theirs.

Oh yeah, and I'm so glad Gather was here for you to have a place to rant! Ranting is so important to our mental health.

Hang in there. I know what you mean. My Mom is always trying to tell me how to raise my kids. One day I said to her, "Mom--I am not raising Maddie EXACTLY the same way you raised me. There are alot of things I learned from you, but I don't want her to be raised in such a regimented way. All kids are different. I love you, but you need to remember you are the grand-parent........I am the parent." She did not take it well. She got up and left the room. But things fizzled down and we are back to normal. She is by the way a wonderful grandmother to my kids.

Yes Jules... You need to learn to control your temper in these situations... Sometimes you overreact and then it causes more problems... I KNOW my sister is a hard woman to put up with but if you are firm instead of throwing a fit... she's more inclined to listen... Tkae it in stride and understand they only want what they think is best for Chloe too... As far as the things she likes to eat I would have let her throw the turkey at her... Just to prove a point... And just because WE know what she likes to eat doesn't mean everyone else does... Hey we even know she likes coffee... And we give it to her in small amounts... But letting grandma give her a bite of cookie and letting her give her the whole cookie is where you guys have your problem... I would just tell her okay let her have a little bite but don't keep feeding it to her... She knows what it's like to be obese too...

trin... thats what i am trying to do is stay clam then she says something meaner!

I know how you feel about family...they can be so judgmental. Now you will appreciate being home all the more when you finally get there.

Julia, what Trinity said is true, just count to 10 and control your temper, you tend to take everything that people say to heart, and think that they are trying to tell you that you are a horrible mother because you don't give her cookies that often, or put her in pajamas to sleep. Everyone has their own way of raising their kids, so when someone tries to give her a cookie, just smile and say, Chloe can have a few bites of cookie, but too much sugar makes her hyper, so I'd rather she didn't eat the whole thing.

As far as the things Chloe doesn't like to eat, well, like Trinity said, let them give it to her, if Chloe doesn't like it she won't eat it..that simple...you don't have to say a word. Just grin and bear it, Laura is her grandmother and I am sure doesn't want to do anything to hurt Chloe.

I just want you to relax a bit, and not take everything to heart. I am positive they know that you do your best with what you have to raise Chloe, after all she is healthy and happy.

Remember, that us Grandmas even though we know that mom wants us to do something a certain way, we are grandma's and want to spoil our grand kids a bit. So yes we do go against the parents every now and then. There is nothing wrong with that because it doesn't happen 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Just think on it...I am not trying to side with anyone here, I am just trying to make you see the other side of the coin so you can relax a bit and not take everything to heart, I hate to see you hurting and stressing, especially when you don't need to.
