That sentence is ridculous. If he was still in the military, he'd be court-martialed and sent to federal prison. What's wrong with judges?

Yea that sucks, judge will be sorry if he repeat offends. Although to be fair to "justice" we don't know the whole story. But again kids and sex crimes really scary stuff.

George, I disagree with your assessment. It is not entrapment if someone takes action on a supposed situation where the participants are representing themselves to be minors. He deserves real time for his action.

No, Paul, not yet. If ever . A friend who was in the court room in regards to another matter heard the procedings take place. He knew when he told me I'd hit the ceiling and write about it. This is a very small town, my friend didn't mention anything about the guy having to register as a sex offender either. I absolutley trust the source of the article, otherwise I wouldn't have written it.

THAT is the ROOT of just about all evil in this world--lenient or corrupt and ignorant or closet abusers themselves, JUDGES. Not the laws it's the way the laws are twisted and justified by the ultimate voice against killers, sexual devients, rapists, child abusers wife beaters--the judges. Sickening!

How about what they did in Massachusetts. They won't pass Jessica's Law but I think they passed one making it illegal to spank your own kids. Which basically says in that state, you can assault and kill someone else's child but you can't discipline your own with a swat on the butt when necessary (I'm not talking torture, abuse or beating...just a swat to get their attention). How screwed up is that?

A pervert is a pervert no matter what. Throw the book at them, especially when it's an offense against a minor...no matter if they're an undercover office or not...no matter if they served in the military of not. We have a child molester in our neighborhood. He was went to prison for possessing thousands of images on his computer of child pornography and molested a couple of the second grade boys he used to teach. He was sent to a 'country club' prison for 2 out of the 8 years he was sentenced to...and served out the remaining 6 years on probation. He wasn't supposed to be on a computer, let alone own one...yet I've known him to be on line for at least the past 5 years...from his own home...on his own computer. As soon as he went off probation, he relocated here...right around the corner from an elementary school. Every afternoon, you can walk by his place and see him sitting in his window watching...at the time school lets out. He also goes to the dance clubs and preys on the under 21 boys; buying them drinks and taking them back to his place. Granted, they are legal age for consensual sex; but he's still a friggin' pervert...when he's in his mid 40's...and still registered with the New York State sexual offender registry.

How is that a valid reason?

How is that judge going to feel when the military man is back in his court charged with rape? His next victim could be the judge's own child or grandchild. Shame on him.

What's important here is if the guy has to register as a sex offender. So far, he's only guilty of solicitation. It may not carry much of a penalty, but it at least puts the spotlight on him. Wouldn't you rather he get nailed for something he planned to do, rather than hear about him raping some young kid? A stitch in time...

Yep, that pretty much typifies what's wrong with our justice system.

I am a South Carolina resident and I am ashamed that one of our Judges could do such a 'stupid' and 'ruthless' act. As someone previously stated, the next victim could be his child or grandchild. When these judges make these ridiculous sentences and the pervert/animal does it again, the judge should be held responsibile?
