Is today's love
A memory
Of a dream?
Were you led
A thousand miles
To your love here
Where your dream
Your destined love
Waits for you?

your writing inspires me to recall all my dreams. Some of them are still a beautiful memory...I am curious to know who was in your dream. Once I had a dream and it was fulfilled soon..
Congrats for such a sweet poem and now I am going to collect my dreams too..
Are you back? You had beautiful dreams and they've been fulfilled. With all of God's rich blessings.
Bhawana, there has always been a certain person in my dreams. I'll meet her, I know. I was married for 6 months but my wife died after an op. One day, a mist will part and I'll see her. I'll recognise her immediately.
That video is so stunning. It's a wonderful gift for me. Like the other one was.
you are a person of a great kind heart...I always find that you write for someone special...your spirituality mixed in your words are simply adorable..
keep it alive ...
Blessings
take your words back
It's only a few lines but it's meant to arouse deep thoughts.
I see it as an inevitability of meeting the one that you should. It's about someone meant for you even though you chose to ignore what's pre-destined.
It's about meeting someone and knowing that you are known to each other.
Don't ignore what you learned in your classes. Use that knowledge but maybe life sometimes breaks all the rules but don't worry. Where the text books fail you along comes a little voice.
Thank you for seeing so much.
I know what you mean...but I'm going to differ with you if I may.
This verse is for oneself. Let me put it this way.
We're sitting at Rumi's feet and we ask the great man "Oh sage oh poet, what can you tell us that will be most meaningful?"
This poem would, in my humble opinion, be his answer.
I don't see this about as being about loss. It's about finding one's real love.
Don't be a stranger dear.
I'll reply to both of you because you are like loving sisters.
I know that you two know the true meaning of this poem and your wishes for me are a treasure and and a lamp that lights my path.
Oh you two. I've fallen off my chair laughing. You're so funny. You've made my day. Hahahaha.
Of course Reena, it means the meeting of your love. That's what it's all about.
Bhawana, that angry man is killing me with laughter. Make him stop please. No no don't...I've got to like him very much now.
This one´s a crowd pleaser, a real winner, mate.
That's a pretty nice trick you got going there ,Mr Hose! Short and Sweet but beautifully complex. A love letter ...a question , borne from incredulous emotion and longing ,seeking for the other half...
and the answer? we need another poem:)
how much fun for friends to respond in kind?
no contest..just a chance to share:)
Your praise motivates me. I find that short verses are gifficult to write as there is so little scope to make a point. If you felt that I sustained a worthy tone at the right pitch then I feel a great satisfaction.
I appreciate your kind words.
You understood the words perfectly. You have a remarkable power of insight. Great.
In fact, I like them more than my poem.
Yesss...let's have a competition. sheila dear, may I ask you to lead off? Will you kindly post the first poem in reply?
Because of a inspired suggestion by our dear sheila, you are hereby cordially invited to post your own poem in response to the above poem.
Show us what emotions are awoken within you by the words of the given verses.
Let's go !!!
Hi Magi I can accept what you say. No coincidences. That thought makes life seem so exciting, doesn't it. Your life isn't like the balls in a Lotto competition.
BTW Magi...shouldn't all good and noble Aussies be asleep at this moment? Is it not about 4 am or some such time. Can't the Vegemite wait for another 2 or 3 hours??
I read a poem earlier today that just knocked me out with fantastic imagery, then I read the man's explanation of the poem and the vibrant colors became black and white.
Short but maybe not as sweet...a pomegranete to your mango.....:)
and here I am
You longed
I brought my touch
You hungered
I offer my lips
From your beginning
I am
Touch to dispel your incredulity
Our love is a timeless destiny
when someone talk about love and dreams in a way so pious as this verse , I feel a part of the dream and I cannot help but pray that such a beautiful dream come true...and when that someone is you ...I cannot help a big smile and sigh! this man knows (feels)so much about much hyped and ever-mysterious love ...
in this litle verse you have captured the soul of a dreamer that walks a thousand miles in pursuit of love..
I follwed my dream
that eternal quest
of love
In my dreams
He shows me the path
warm sun and stars guide me
to an unknown but own
destination
and I came in search
of something that's mine
waiting for me
to start a new jouney
together
A simple question on the surface, yet a life-changing experience balanced on the outcome.
Destined to love..yet, will it be a happy union? A rewarding experience? A spiritual experience ?
I like this simple little love poem. A lot.
very enjoyable
thank you
Is today's love
a memory of a dream?
Were you led a thousand
miles to your love?
Does your dream, your destined
love, wait for you?
haunted my dreams
captured my thoughts
tickled my senses
Now here you are
It was meant to be.
It had no beginning and no end
I am still in the middle surrounded
by the strength of that love astounded
I was loved by the lovliest of men
I went back and changed a word or two in stanza 3. It needed some tweaking so thank you so much.
I'm sorry Bill, but I did give some explanations here and there but I regard this thread as a discussion place. When poems are so short, they can be easily misunderstood.
This poem is so subtle that sometimes even I get it wrong. Hahaha.
Yessss...I been to see your comment at Reena's. Enjoyed it.
Pommegranate??? I love them.
I love your poem very much. It's very stirring Thank you so much for it.
I think that you should publish it on your page. It's really good.
In your words you've made my day. can see that you see what I see in it and that you see yourself in this poem.
Love is ever mysterious and so it should be. Love should never become just something over there somewhere. The excitement should never fade.
Your poem is exquisite. I love it. Please publish it on yor page and let the world see it.
Destined to love. So often it is. When so, then God can give no greater reward.
I'm so glad that you saw that great power in that simple question.
Somehow I feel that by the mere asking of the question, you place yourself on the road of your true destiny.
Thank you dear Minnie.
Hello Ed. So pleased to see you here. Thank you for your very constructive ideas. When I have a little peace, I'm going to test your ideas and see how I can improve the style.
Thank you Yvonne. our words touch me because you are such a spiritual person yourself.
Yes lsie. Yo understood it to the fullst. Your poem was all about your wondeful husband.
Isn't it a most precious memeory t have loved like that. Nothing can take it away from you.
Isn't that wonderful to think about?
No ,that little poem is to stay where it is at home under your love song to keep it company....
So as we are trancending time and space what if the questions posed in your Memory of a Dream are answered by the wrong party....
(cue the dream music here )
Hello? Yeah..are you Memory of a Dream?..it says here you're searching for a dream...hey,big fella ,look no further your dream boat has arrived! what's that ? looks like the S.S. Be careful what you wish for....;9
I believe in destiny. Isn't it fun to deam.
Hello Barbary. Hahaha yes to them all??? Why not. Yes to destiny and yes to dreams coming true.
Maybe dreams sometimes take a round about route, but they do come true in the end.
Now sheila...that's not what I had in mind. Hahaha. I've got a poem about such a guy and I may even post it. Let me think about it.
Just stay away from SS Wrecks...oh my, I thought that that was so funny.
If there is a mysterious stranger waiting for me, I wish he would hurry up and make himself known!
I love your romantic words.
Your simple yet deep poem brought back memories very close to my heart. Also in this poem you have beautifully unfolded the Indian philosophy of soulmates and marriages or one's love. In India we believe in the philosophy that one's true love is one and only one and that has been already decided in heaven. How and when one finds their special one is a different story altogether. I know you one might argue that in a country where most marriages are arranged and where dating is still uncommon in most parts, this might be diificult to understand. But it is what actually is the belief that ones true love finds them in whatever way there is. I remember how I always believed in this fact and wondered on the same lines as your poem and now looking back how true it all seems. This dream has come true for me and I really travelled thousands of miles to be with my love. Though it was literally true for me, it can be true in so many ways. And till the time you meet your half that complements you, there really will be thousands of miles between the two of you....even if your love was next door. And believe me this happens too. ALl the time you see someone around you, nice and simple and lovely and yet one day you see her in a completely diffrent light and you wonder why did you never think of that before? I know that because thats what happened with me and my husband. I'm sure your thousand miles will soon disappear and the mist will lift to show you that special someone you have been waiting for.
